If you have read Eddings' Belgariad or Malorian, this is a must read. It chronicles the life of Belgarath the Sorcerer, and answers questions about his past, his relationship with Polgara, and with Garian. Beautifully written, it, with Polgara the Sorceress, neatly tie up the ends of this epic adventure.
