Like a gossipy girlfriend, McCarthy brings you in and makes you laugh; there's a certain comfort in knowing that even a sex symbol gets stretch marks and balloons to 200 pounds during pregnancy." -Booklist "McCarthy is undeniably crass but funny, and her candor and self-deprecation are refreshing.... McCarthy's tales are, for the most part, a hoot." -Publishers Weekly« less

I loved her no holding back attitude. All of my pregnant friends are reading this and it has been a great ice breaker to all the not so nice parts of pregnancy.
This book didn't live up to my expectations. I heard tons of women rave about it and while it was humorous enough, I didn't like McCarthy's close minded views of breastfeeding or birthing naturally sans drugs. I didn't want to expect to read any judgments in this book, and being an emotional pregnant woman already sensitive to my choices for feeding and birthing, I probably would've passed had I known about them.
That said, she's quite honest about many of the dirtier details of pregnancy, so it's nice knowing that even Playmates deal with the same symptoms.

A must read for all mom's to be! In this book Jenny goes through her pregnancy and doesn't hold back on things we go through during pregnancy. My husband even enjoyed it!
I did not find this funny at all. She seemed whiny and bitchy. She way over-exagerated almost everything about pregnancy. Waste of time!

So I found out I was pregnant and bought this book. I actually did laugh out loud more than once. I felt a kinship with Ms. McCarthy because I am feeling some of the things she felt and I also hope to never get some of the things she did.
I love how truthful and just open she is about everything, I like the truth flat out instead of sugarcoated and Ms. McCarthy does that for you.
Its a light, cute, read and I was very happy I bought this one because it made me feel a bit less alone than I've been feeling as of late. I will definitely pick up more books by her if she writes them.
