What the heck is with people?  I have been trying to request the book "Bergdorf Blondes" and I am on my fourth person since no one responds to my requests.  Is this book so good that no one wants to part with it?  This isn't really a question but more of a rant.  We will see if this person responds.  It is just weird that so many people have not responded.

Well....let me ask you this.  Are you manually cancelling your order when the person does not respond?  If so, when you re-order, all you are doing is re-requesting it from the same person as before.  So basically, you have been requesting the book over and over from the same deadbeat member.  What you need to do (if you aren't already doing this) is not do anything.  After a few days, your request will time out with that person and will then automatically go to the next person in line with the book.

Hope that helps.  I know the wait is frustrating!  Patience is THE biggest virtue here at PBS.  It's the trade-off for getting your books so cheaply.

Oooh.... then the copy that's been lanquishing on my shelf might be moving up in the FIFO line!  :)

Hope you get a copy of it soon, Kellee!  I know it can be frustrating.

Kellee, this where you just need to keep repeating to yourself "I am helping to weed out inactive accounts and making PBS a better place.  I am helping to weed out inactive accounts and making PBS a better place."  It can be frustrating.  Eventually, if nothing else you will make it to Jo.

Or you could click the Bookshelf button on Jo's post above and order it directly from there...

I have been doing nothing - just letting PBS re-request it.  If it doesn't work this time, I am going to order from Jo directly!  Thanks!!!

My post was more of a rant than anything else :)  It is just weird that it is that certain book.  I am relatively new but have been getting all of my other stuff within one request.  I know that there are deadbeat members out there but it was weird that I have gotten 4 in a row.

Happy New Year!

LOL, I wasn't fishing for a request, really.... just trrying to be funny.  Go ahead and let the system weed out the non-active books.  I'm glad you have the patience to do it, Kellee.

Holy Moley!!!  Someone has responded and it is now marked as "will mail by 1/8"!  Maybe I need to rant more often about things, like..... not winning the lottery!  Why is it that I never win the lottery?  How can I NOT win the lottery?!?!?  It sucks that I have never won millions upon millions of dollars. Maybe I will win it now that I complained about NOT winning it... LOL :)

This seems to be common with highly posted books although I don't know off hand how many copies that one has.  People join PBS-post a bunch of heavily posted books then by the time they work their way up FIFO they no longer care about PBS.  Yes hard to believe that everyone who joins doesn't become an addict like me.

And yay you just removed 4 "dead" copies from the FIFO line for that book and hopefully flagged them as possible inactive accounts for PBS to close out.

I also think that during the holidays a lot of people just aren't online w/PBS or decide not to send out books- I guess they figure they'd rather go to the end of the fifo with that book than bother to mail it during all the craziness of break.

Yay!  I'm glad to see that you finally might be getting the copy you requested... I hope you enjoy it very much!
