I picked up 7 small books at a "fill a bag sale" at a local thrift shop.  All the information is in Japanese, so I'm trying to find a way to translate their names into English.  Only one book even lists the author, it is a manga/cartoon book by Sakumi Yoshino, and says "1", so am assuming it's a volume 1.  The ISBN is 4-09-191532-9 and 9784091915320.  Any help with the name of this little book would be much appreciated!

The remaining six books are even more confusing.  The only thing in English on these is "White Heart" (assume that's the publisher).  The ISBN for one is 9784062555739 and 4-06-255573-5.  My husband did some checking on his Iphone, and he thinks these six books are from a series called The Twelve Kingdoms by Fuyumi Ono.  Though, I don't know how to determine the titles for these six books, if they're part of that series.  (These are not cartoon books, but look like small novels; all the writing is in Japanese).  Any ideas?  Hopefully the link above to my Flickr photos will work.

What's the best ISBN data base to try to use?

Did you go to Google?  I typed in both of those ISBNs and as I don't really know anything about the books you have the information didn't mean much to me, but possibly it would to you.  Good luck.  Pat

Have you tried Worldcat.org?

WorldCat is the world's largest network of library content and services. WorldCat libraries are dedicated to providing access to their resources on the Web, where most people start their search for information.

I just tried an ISBN search on Worldcat.  It does recognize the ISBN and gives the author name, though the name of the book and the rest of the info. is still in Japanese.  I also checked on Bookfinder4u, and saw that the book cover matches my own when I plugged in the ISBN number there (one of the books is available for purchase from $25 to $60, so maybe these are worth something to a collector?!).  But, again, all info. is printed in Japanese, so I don't know the titles.  But, at least am finding more info., about publishing dates, etc.  Just wish I could read Japanese!

@catsandroses

While it will not be perfect, you could use google translate to translate the words.  it would at lest give you an idea of the words.

I was able to find out info. on all 7 books!  My husband did an ISBN search and found Wikepedia listed the titles of all six of the books (they're part of a series called "The Twelve Kingdoms" by Fuyumi Ono).  Also provided the publishing dates and a description for each book.

And thanks for the tip about trying a translator; I still could find nothing on the single book (which is a comic book, not a novel like the others).  I was able to copy & paste the Japanese letters of the book and found out that the book below is called "Innocent Eyes, Book 1" by Sakumi Yoshino.   So thanks for your suggestions!
