My favorite has to be the Sookie Stackhouse series.  Although, I have to agree with you Marion.  Kresley Cole's Immortals after Dark is pretty great.

I can't pick just one.   I can tell you what my auto-buys are:

Sookie Sackhouse series by Charlaine Harris

Kim Harrison's series (Dead Witch Walking, etc..)

Betsy series by MaryJanice Davidson

Patricia Briggs

Psi-Changling series by Nalini Singh

....and I'm watching for a new series by Lori Handeland.  Read the ARC for Any Given Doomsday, and Loved IT!

Oh,  a new favorite of mine is G.A. Aiken's Dragon series.  It starts with Dragon Actually.  The next one will be About a Dragon.   G.A. Aiken is a another name for erotic romance author Shelley Laurentston.

I'm sure there are others, but these are off the top of my head.

JR Ward's series tops my list... I've read them all a least 5 times! A single book that is at the top is Sherrilyn Kenyon's Sieze the Night; while I like the whole series, this book is very well worn from my re-reading it over and over. I just love Tabitha and Valerius' story! Close to the top: Lori Handeland's werewolf series.

Hands down Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series.

A distance 2nd would be Jennifer Rardin's Jaz  Park series.

Then in a tie for 3rd........in no particular order

  • Keri Arthur's Riley Jensen
  • Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Other World
  • Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse
  • Karen Chance's Cassie Palmer
  • Kim Harrison's Witch Series
  • Swanda Swendon's Katie Chandler series
  • Ilona Andrew's Magic series

And I have to say I'm liking the new Jenna Black series too..but I'm only 2 books in so time will tell.  I'm sure I'm missing some in my tied for 3rd list too.  I usually tend to like series that aren't typical romance...so if that's your thing you might not like the ones I do!

my favorite paranormal series is the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton, and my favorite book in it is Blue Moon.  that's the only book that i can *ever* remember finishing, and then turning around and reading a second time the very next day.  i *loved* the books through Obsidian Butterfly, and after that they aren't quite as good - but hopefully she's getting back on track.  it doesn't hurt my love for these books that the heroine is exactly as tall as i am.  :)

some other really excellent urban fantasy series:

  • Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs
  • Harry Dresden by Jim Butcher
  • Weather Warden by Rachel Caine
  • Sookie Stackhouse by Charlaine Harris
  • Rachel Morgan by Kim Harrison
  • Women of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong

on the paranormal romance side, the top two i've actually kept are J.R. Ward and Lynsay Sands.

Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan and Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series are probably my favorites right now.

For pure fluff I'd say Keri Arthur's Riley Jensen books.

Yup knew I forget some Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost, Harry Dresden by Jim Butcher might have to be moved up to be tied in 2nd place w/ Jaz Parks.  I actually prefer Morganville Vampp series over the Weather Warden by Rachel Caine, Richelle Mead (both the YA & Succubus one even tho the YA is better IMHO), the House of Knight series by PC & Kristen Cast.  Wow...I have a lot tied for 3rd! ;)

i know the original poster said favorite, so i'm trying to refrain from listing everything on my keeper shelves, but there's so much good stuff being mentioned!

the House of Night series by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast was really excellent, as was the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer, and the Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine are really good.  those are all young adult series.

i also do enjoy the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost and the Cassandra Palmer series by Karen Chance that have been mentioned.

Nalini Singh's Psy/Changeling series is my favorite now, great wordbuilding and the romance, both.  Haven't started on Briggs yet, so I can't say, and I am enjoying Jeaniene Frost's series a lot.  Also, Kresley Cole's Immortals is really good, fun series.

My most favorite of all times .... the J.R. Ward  Black Dagger Brotherhood series.  Like Suzanne Brockmann said, "To Die For . Actually, I read the Crimson series first  (O'Shea,Liu, Maverick, Jewel, Lee) and bought all of them, paid full price/half price to get my hands on them and read them in a day.  But the Ward books are marvelous.

I've recently gotten most of the Rebecca York series and have just started it. I just don't know yet if it was worth the effort to collect them. Has anyone else read this series ( the first one is about werewolves)...what do you think, are they good?

Most of my keeper paranormal/urban fantasy series:

    • Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews
    • Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs
    • Southern Vampire Mysteries (otherwise known as Sookie Stackhouse series) by Charlaine Harris
    • The Hallows series by Kim Harrison
    • The Demon Hunting Soccer Mom Series (starts with Carpe Demon)
    • Succubus series by Richelle Mead (Starts with Succubus Blues)
    • Cassandra Palmer series by Karen Chance
    • The Accher series. (Zodiac) Forget the author.

Used to LOVE AAnita Blake but ay book after Obsidian Butterfly is thumbs down for me. The sex doesnt bother me (I like godo smut and have plenty to show for it! LOL) but the fact the storyline can [retty much be talken out and there is enough sex left to supplement any other texxt and amke it erotica, does. The story should be able to stand alone without the sex, not the other way around.

But in a way its great because forced me to find other series that I am really enjoying now.

I usually like urban fanasy a lot more than paranormal romance, but I've also kept all of Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark books even though those are more on the romance side.
