The first book that came to mind was the Bruno, Chief of Police (Bruno, Chief of Police, Bk 1)Author: Martin Walker series.  I am a big fan of series books and this one was very welcome and enjoyable.

After looking over my list from last year the other most memorable book was the fourth and last of the World Made by Hand series: The Harrows of Spring by James Howard Kunstler.   He wrapped several story lines up, but I do feel this book leaves room for a couple more.

Just posted this in the Book of the Month/Year thread:

So many 4 and 4.5 stars that I just cannot pick a print book of the year...though I think it might be   the judas field by Howard Bahr and The Midwife of Hope River by Patricia Harman.

For audio, a tie:  On Agate Hill by Lee Smith and My Name is Mary Sutter by Robin Oliveira. Both 5 stars.

my text above is really messed up. want to add to my favorites:

another audio - When The Emperor Was Divine by Julie Otsuka

Silent Spring by Rachel Carson

Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer.

These five books left the biggest impression on me.

Kathleen, I just had that happen in another thread to me.  I think it is because I copied and pasted one of the titles.  I noticed that the formatting, the table, came with it.  Had to delete everything and start over, without C&P.
