Excellent historical fiction that roused my inner clan warrior and made my blood boil. Fine sense of romance when it was called for, good humor, and above all this: these stories do NOT explain themselves or make the effort to help a reader understand the vocabulary or the rituals or the world view of the characters. Instead, a reader is dropped in and expected to catch on. Made for a real feeling of time traveling! Good books for kids and adults, probably age 12 and up. I am a suburban housewife and while this sort of thing doesn't usually get my attention; I really am glad I read this. It was different and it challenged me. Fantastic characters, excellent writing, no raunch. Fantastic.
