Normally I really like Cherryh's writing, but not this time. I got halfway through the book and realized that I didn't care about any of the characters, and didn't care what happened to them. Maybe something happens later to turn that around, but I just felt that reading more wouldn't be worth my time.

An oldie but goodie.
For fifty years, Dr. Ariane Emory has dominated politics on Cyteen Station. Because Dr. Emory controls Reseune, a city-sized factory that creates the one item essential to the planet's wealth. Reseune produces people--computer-trained azi servants and soldiers.

The Cyteen trilogy is quite possibly my favorite of Cherryh's work.
