Okay, disclaimer. I only made it to the fifth short story in this book. So technically speaking I can only discuss those five. I have a very hard time imagining that the rest of the short stories were total gems of the written word.

After reading the first five short stories in this book there is only one conclusion any bibliophile would come to. This is either this book is some sort of psychological study gone awry. Ala, let's see how long these people will read this sucky book until they give up. Or alternatively, this book was written by a gifted sophomore creative writing class that was extremely depressing.

It really seemed amateurish. I could practically hear the da-da-da-DUMMMM in my head at some of the big 'reveals' in the stories.

I don't know if this is the fault of the editor or the actual authors. I haven't heard of any of them and know of no other works by them.

I would say give this book a miss. Or go to your local library and check it out from there. Better yet, go to your local library and find a good book that makes you stay up at night desperate to know what happens next.

Whatever works for you, but don't get this book for any kind of payment. It's simply not worth it.
