The daughter of Mandarin and Cantonese parents, Leeann was born in Canton, China. Both by inheritance and through experience, she is knowledgeable about Cantonese, Szechwan and Mandarin foods.
Cooking, her great talent, went undiscovered in the United States until the day in 1972 when she entertained at a luncheon in honor of patrons of her modest sewing and alterations business. The quality and artistry of her cooking so impressed her guests that they persuaded her to teach cooking classes for them and their friends. She is now also the proprietor of a beautiful, contemporary Chinese restaurant, Leeann Chin's Chinese Cuisine, recently opened in Minnetonka, a sububrb of Minneapolis.
