Definitely not politically correct but a very fun read. Would love to see this made into a movie - with Craig Ferguson in a cameo of course. His religious, political, social, historical, literary (you get the idea) references abound and I'm sure I missed a lot of them. As you read you will wonder "Where is this all going?" but Mr. Ferguson wraps it up very satisfactorily. If you like his quirky late night humor, you'll appreciate this book. And remember, he played fisherman #1 in that great made-for-TV movie, Vampire Bats.

If you like Kurt Vonnegut, you should also really enjoy Between the Bridge and the River. Wittily written, profound at times, and an interesting story to boot. Deeply flawed characters. Redemption. Dreams of Carl Jung. A blind man in a floral print dress heals the sick. A trip to hell. A jump to the river from above Paris. Won't be posting this book anytime soon on PBS, because I'm sure I'll read it again. Would highly recommend.

I loved this book. A bunch of small stories and intriguing characters that are full of full of hope, love, philosophy, greed, and pettiness. It ties up in a beautiful way.
It's witty and engaging.

A story that is messy, lovely, heartbreaking, intertwining, thoughtful, and deliciously satisfying all in one. You will not be able to put this down. I had to keep reading to find out how all of these people would wind up. Wonderful!

I really liked this book! If you know Craig Ferguson from his late night show, prepare to be impressed and surprised by this book (and his movies). The man is seriously talented. He uses words and ideas that show he's a deep thinker. One or 2 of the characters were a little odd, and just unlikable, but, overall, I recommend this book.
