So, if you read it what did you think?  She was my (and my sister's)  go to author,  but this last one seemed to put us both of a little.  Maybe we were the only ones, tho?

I read Beyond Reach last year. I recall beginning the last chapter and thinking that everything was going to work out for Jeffrey and Sara. Then I got to the last two pages and-----WHAT??????????????? I had to stop, take a breath and then re-read the final paragraphs just to make certain I wasn't hallucinating. I just sat there in complete shock, furious at the author and yet thinking--OK, so if this really happened, what in the world will be included in any future Grant County books?

Slaughter has a spoiler letter on her website that explains why she chose to take the Grant County books in this direction.

WARNING: DO NOT GO TO THIS LINK UNLESS YOU HAVE ALREADY READ BEYOND REACH. SPOILERS ARE INCLUDED.

I've read all the earlier Grant Co. books and was real excited when I got Beyond Reach.  I had  just started it and was happily reading along.  I went to Amazon for something and noticed one of those, "we think you'd like..." about Beyond Reach and went over to it.   On a sidebar was a review by someone who threw the whole thing/ ending out there!!!  I was so mad!  Now I have put it aside.   Since, thanks to that A$$  I already know the end, should I bother with reading it?  Would the rest of it be worth it?  Since you've both read it and know something about this, WWYD?

It looks like Slaughter's starting a new series, BTW.

I have enjoyed all of the Grant County books they are great this one caught me a lot off guard at the end. I am hoping that she will make it all work out though in the next installment. I am confident she will if not I will lose my confidence in her LOL. Really does it seem she is starting another series? Also does anyone know what the next Grant County book will be titled?

Oh, Sharon!!  Now that's horrible, and I am irritated for you!  I would go ahead and read it, tho.  It's a good book, it's just that the end was going along and then BAM!  It upset my sister so much she doesn't know if she will read anymore of K. S.!   I have her next one ordered "Fractured" but it isn't a Grant Co. and I don't know when the next one of those is coming out.

I'm still ticked for you, Sharon!  Have you read "Shutter Island" by Dennis Lehane?  If you are going to, don't read anymore reviews!

Thanks, Carol!  I appreciate the recommendation, the warning, and the empathy!  Whoever wrote that can't be a book lover!!    :)  OK, I'll go ahead and finish it.  I need to pass it on; there is a wish list for it, so I'll just do it....  I do think she is one of the best new authors in a while so I will look forward to "Fractured," too.

Sharon (Mamu), I had the same thing happen! I commented on their review and asked them to please not post spoilers since it is in the Amazon guidelines and reported it.  Its still there though, which really annoys me, as does the fact that someone told me I should just not read reviews if I don't like seeing spoilers.  I still read the book, but was really mad about the fact that I was just waiting for it to happen.  It still upset me (what happened in the book), but I think I'll get over it.

Did you guys know that Fractured has returning characters from Triptych?  I haven't read that one yet.

Christina, I did see that Fractured is shown on Stop You're Killing Me as a second in a series.  Makes me wonder about the Grant Co series being finished.

Thanks for complaining to Amazon!   I guess they must not approve the reviews before they are posted or that wouldn't have been there.  We can't be the only two that are majorly irritated  about that.  I do read reviews about almost every book I have in my TBR pile.  Although I've never before read one AFTER I've started a book as I did this time, I think it should be safe to do so.

I think in her letter after Beyond Reach (that you can read online) she said she'd write this non-Grant Co and then go back to Grant.  Hopefully this is so, I'm interested to see what's next for everyone.
