If you have a child (or you yourself is someone) who lives for Legos, building innumerable Lego Mindstorms robots or other things like that, and thinks your home is really their science laboratory, then you need this book for them (or yourself)! Our son is always flipping through this book, finding a page that has a challenge that is enticing at the moment, and spends as much time as it takes to solve it (SHHHH - there are answers in the back)! There are places on some of the pages that explain mathematical topics, such as the Pythagorean Theorem, Fractal Geometry, etc. Most of these brainteasers require nothing more than your brain to be able to solve them, but you might want a piece of blank paper and a pencil for some. I have seen my son fiddle with dominoes a few times to do something in this book, but as far as I can remember, that's it!
This is an excellent book for trips in the car, too!
