Jennifer leaves NYC to travel to Montana to be Lucas O'Reilly's mail order bride. He needs a wife to keep his home, cook his meals, and give him strong healthy sons. A sweet quiet wife, but Jennifer is anything but sweet and quiet. Oh, she is sweet but she doesn't obey like the vows said. Sparks fly and tempers flare but love is sure to be in the air.

A cute story about 2 strong-willed people who learn to live together and love each other in the old West.

Theres a lot wrong with this book, starting with the title. The source of Lucas OReillys wealth is his (shared) gold mine; his status comes from Lucas roles as founder and mayor of Thunder Canyon. In conversation, Lucs place is referred to as a farm.

Lucas has just about everything he wants in life except a wife so he pays a fee to an agency to find one (meeting his specifications) and send her to his home in Montana. Miss Jennifer Alston is the woman who has just arrived in Thunder Canyon, ready to meet and marry her intended.

Unfortunately, the agency has enhanced Jennifers skills dramatically. She does not know how to cook or mend clothes the 2 specific skills Luc tells the agency he wants.

Jennifer is dismayed to find that her future husband is not a gentleman and hes allowed the farmhouse to devolve into a pig sty. She wants to back out of the agreement but Luc is having none of it.

Jennifer decides that if she is going to do housework, she might as well get paid for it. She gets together with Ida, a widow, and they open a boardinghouse. She moves out of Lucs home. Im not going to tell the rest; you probably wouldnt believe me anyway. This is one strange story.

Would I recommend this book? No, its too far-fetched to be realistic. Ive read most of the rest of Carolyn Davidsons catalog and this story is not indicative of her talent.

Lucas O'Reilly did things his wayand as founder and mayor of Thunder Canyon, he answered to no one and liked it that way. Except lately, now that he owned one of the bigger spreads, and richer mines, under the wide Montana sky, he'd been thinking a wife would be nice. Maybe an agreeable little woman to brighten his house and warm his bed.

A mail-order bride would be one special delivery, he decided. But what he got instead was a surprise package with a firecracker inside named Miss Jennifer Alston. Sassy and opinionated, she was not what he'd expected but exactly what he needed, in spite of himself!
