In 1932 it pioneered the use of the parabolic reflector for concentrating bird songs into the microphone. In 1949 it designed a portable magnetic-tape recorder for greater mobility in the field. Today it's library of natural sounds, from which these authentic recordings were selected, contains the vocalizations of more than 2,000 species of birds.
In other words, this is a small, spiral bound paper back book which includes actual, flexible, plastic records to be played on a record player to hear the different bird songs.
