I didn't like the flashbacks either but what I did was just skim or totally skip those parts of the story.  It does get better especially with Sam and Alyssa.

I actually liked the flashback parts the best. Well, and Sam and Alyssa too. :-)

I just finished the third one and it just about killed me.  I'm half dying to read the next one and half thinking I should take a break and read something calmer.

I liked the 4th adn 5th books best so far(kenny and savannah's story then sam & alyssa again in the 5th one). I started with the 2nd and skipped a lot of the flashback stuff. I also thought it was sorta dumb that this Seal chases this woman all over the place trying to get her to trust him when her mother and daughter are held by friggin' terrorists.. I mean geez like any woman is calm enought to trust anyone in that situation!

Wait, when you say the flashbacks, do you mean the Nils and Meg or the WWII romance? Because I meant the WWII - I also found the Nils and Meg flashbacks boring. Actually I found them boring in general. So far I've read three of these and haven't actually like the leading romance in any of them much-it's all the secondary stuff that grabs me. ;-)

well, Kenny and Savannah's story is good but has another storyline with another couple who show up late rin the series I think. and Sam and Alyssa havea good story in the following book..think the 4th and 5th ones. I stopped there but want to read the others.

I loved the whole series and did skim a lot of the flashbacks, but I am regularly a skimmer and I tend to skim through parts that don't have a lot of dialogue anyway.

Definitely stick with the series, there is so much more that will happen that you will love.
