I call this first novella historical fiction with a supernatural twist. While not what I expected, I found this a good read. We will see how the rest of the series goes.

This was a great book. I hope to find the rest in this series so I can finish it. When a stranger shows up during a big flood and marries a man from one of the town's most prominent families, strange things begin to happen. I wasn't sure if I would like this one before reading it, but could hardly put it down once I got started on it.

This was a great little southern gothic horror story. The excellence of this book comes from the way the skill of the author depicts horror without delving into a lot of blood and gore. There is a little, yes, but the majority of the chills come from the reader's own imagination. I'm looking forward to reading all the Blackwater books. I simply have to find out what happens!
