My Comments
I had been anticipating the sequel to Deadly Devotion for awhile so I was very pleased to read more about Kates amateur sleuthing adventure. Even though the story didnt grab my full attention right away, I was eager to see what happened with Kate and Tom.

The mystery and focus of the book takes off right away. Kate is shopping for her elderly neighbor when the clerk discovers the bills paid with are counterfeit ones, leading immediately to Kate getting into trouble. Tom shows up for the case and they begin their investigating.

I really wanted to find out how Verna, Kates neighbor, is involved this time. I knew there was no way she was guilty with the counterfeiting, but as always theres more to the story than we initially see.

My favorite parts of the book were scenes with Verna, Vernas sweet cat, Tom, Toms family, and especially Toms dad.

Kate now has a lab assistant that I suspected from the beginning, but even she was helpful getting Kate to work on time.

I could NOT believe how many people want to sabotage Kate! Wasnt it enough that her best friend was killed in the first book? This woman just cant get a break. Even though the main plot of the story was finding who was responsible for the counterfeiting money, there were many twists and turns that I didnt see coming, whoa! Its amusing reading how Kate tries to follow Toms instructions on safety, but somehow gets around those instructions. His patience and devotion to her is another reason I love this series.

Tom is such an amazing character and only wants to do the right thing. The right thing for him is asking God to help him, doing his job by the book, and of course protecting Kate..she is able to get into trouble faster than you can say, Indiana Jones. (that line is from the movie Notting Hill, let me know if you remember what scene it comes from) I was surprised she didnt listen to Tom better (he really is only out for her best interest and her protection) and I was even more surprised that it takes more than half of the book for her to really trust him. On the other hand, she has been through a lot and regardless of their chemistry, she is also just trying to do whats right.

The movie this book slightly resembles to me is The Firm. Theres a company in the story that has caused so much death and destruction and seemingly has gotten away with it for the time being. If you get in their way or dont follow along, your character disappears from the picture quickly. Even the police have been killed or are unable to gather enough evidence to prosecute this company. So not cool.

An overall GREAT book that I did get into and had no idea which characters were guilty, even though I had my own suspects in mind. It would be so nice if these people would just let Kate live her life without the element of danger, but at the same time Kate gets to discover who really loves her in the midst in investigating. Minor spoiler.it was wonderful reading Tom and Kates first kiss. Its obvious that hes a goner for her and its a treat watching their relationship develop. They have both had a close friend die and trauma because of that, but its a treat seeing them rely on one another and slowly heal.

I want to thank the author and Revell for sending me a review copy. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions expressed are my own.

A suspense treat!

A great suspense story where the mystery and adventure kept me flipping the next page in anticipation of what was going to happen next.

I have to admit that if I had read book one first, a few things might have made a little more sense but I didn't really feel like I had missed on anything more than a good story. I was able to catch onto pretty much everything just from the references to happenings in the previous book.

Complex characters and an involved storyline really kept me reading and enjoying the story. I definitely liked both of the main characters, each has strengths and weaknesses. Sandra Orchard has written all of her characters very realistically and thoughtfully.

If you are a fan of suspense books you will definitely enjoy Blind Trust, and I think, the entire series.

(I received a copy of this book from RevellReads in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.)
