I live in St. Louis and enjoyed reading references to various places around town. I disliked a subplot to the book about the main character being diagnosed as a diabetic. He complains about having this disease and having to switch to "bland" foods and consequences. It takes up like a third of the book. I'm sorry, but I have a number of friends with diabetes and it is a serious condition, but can be managed quite easily by taking meds, exercising, and watching what you eat. BTW they do eat foods that have a kick to them.

Randisi is a solid professional, just like his main character, St. Louis detective Joe Keough. A tough, gritty tale that focuses as much on the tribulations of the main character as it does the story of a series of murders in the St. Louis area. An easy, quick read, totally worth the time.

First book I have read by this author. I live in St. Louis and he got everything perfect. Can't wait to read the rest.
