Frankly, the things Johansen's fertile mind come up with are scary. Don't read this one late at night if you are alone!

From back cover: When a Georgia senators daughter is found dead and drained of blood, Eve enters the world of a twisted psychopatha man whose name appears on Eves shortlist of killers connected to her own missing daughter, Bonnie.
Then Eve receives a terrifying trophyand the games have begun. Soon she must enlist the help of those she loves and trusts the mostJoe Quinn and Jane MacGuireeven if it means putting them in the path of someone whose thirst for blood is only growing stronger.
Eve believes this psychotic mind holds the answers to the questions that have tormented her for years. But like a spider hunting its prey, he is waiting for the perfect moment to strikewhen Eve least expects it. And when she has the most to lose

The Eve Duncan series is one of my favorites. This book was hard to put down. I finished it and immediately started reading the next one in the series.

This book tracks nicely with Pandora's Daughter and the gift that Megan inadvertently gave Eve's lover Joe. Suddenly he is seeing Eve's dead daughter and more worrying for him the ghost of the murdered daughter of a senator. The killer is obsessed with Eve and fancies himself a member of a mysterious cult. After he kills he drinks the blood of his victims from a gold goblet. When Eve find one of the goblets in her house she is terrified and her daughter Jane comes to stay and help. Enter another new character Seth Caleb who has reasons of his own for finding the killer. Iris Johansen has nicely introduced some paranormal touches into the Duncan series adding freshness and new twists. An interesting read.
