I will admit to being bored with this book until about halfway through then the action and the tension kicked up and kept me reading until the last page. It got bogged down in old Chinese politics (sort of) and since this isn't a subject I willingly follow, totally lost my interest.
An ancient enemy of Grandmother Yu is in town and terrorizing everyone. Enter Sun Mtzo (Sam), the black dragon who is "friends" with Grandmother and somehow family of Lily. In and around the trouble with the Chimei, Lily still works on FBI cases and Rule manages to handle two mantles. There is a background story of the wedding preparations and Lily's refusal to set a date. So there is a lot going on and yet it totally lost my attention. I had to put this book down and read two others before I could continue again. Though I am glad that I did as it was definitely a story that needed telling to continue the series. Lily and Rule are still not married and I'm sure that will be a book in itself. I'm sincerely hoping that the next book doesn't focus on Chinese politics or whatever it was.
Another great book in this series.
When i started this series, i really enjoyed it. But now, i am having to force myself to finish a book. I skimmed and skipped whole chapters to get to the end of this one. This series has lost it's charming romance and is mainly a magical thriller. I want more romance and less war. All in all, it's still not a bad series, I still really like the main characters, but it doesn't keep my interest anymore and i put it down several times to read other books before coming back to it and skipping to the end. I still want to read about Lily and Rule's wedding, I just hope that Wilks doesn't stick it in a short story on her website like she did Cullen and Cynna's.
