This is book 2 in the Detective Sandra Cameron Mysteries. I did not read book one because I was not interested in that story. I started reading Blood Reins and realized that it would be best if I read “Animated Death in Burbank” first. I only read to page 30 but felt I was missing too much of the back story. Both characters keep mentioning an incident that occurred in the previous book.

From the 30 pages I read it was Ok. Not my kind of writing.

There are plenty of twists and turns, possible guilty parties in this book. I thought that Sandy and Tom's relationship fell flat and maybe that is what distracted me the most for the story line. I wasn't really sure what Dan contributed to the story other than another character. However, the author's descriptions of the horse world were right on and excellent. I didn't guess the guilty party until right at the end and even then still had doubts until the book was wrapped up. Overall, a good book.
