I loved the destruction of old Mac in this book. While I mourned the loss of her sweet innocence the same way that she did, the fact that the new Mac is a bit (more than a bit) on the dark side and very much kick ass, was delightful to me.

The author writes her emotions in a way that I felt every pang of guilt Mac did and all the frustrations at Barrons's evasiveness.

This book wraps you up from the first page and transports you to a place you probably would never want to be but you can't seem to look away from. I highly recommend this series and I just can't wait to read the third installment.

Bloodfever is the second installment of the Fever series. I have not included any spoilers but there might be a few from the first installment, Darkfever.

The Lord Master is freeing the darkest enemies imaginable. He is letting them roam free among humanity. MacKayla can see these creatures and with Jericho Barrons help they must discover how to close the portal. Since the first installment of the Fever series, MacKayla has grown and matured a lot. She is still coping with the death of her sister but that only fuels her passion for stopping the Lord Master. We still see a glimpse of the old MacKayla with her dreams of having a normal life with lots of pretty rainbows but now she has some harsher edges which helps her in the end.

Jericho and MacKayla are still hunting for Fae artifacts. She has started to get use to Jericho’s way of working but at times she still is very frustrated. The pull between the two of them is very palpable and we are always on the edge wondering if they will take the next step with each other. MacKayla comes upon others that are like her and now she sees that she has other options then Jericho. Seeds of doubt are placed in her mind from both sides leaving her conflicted. Should she continue her allegiance to Jericho or set out on a new path to learn more of what powers she possesses.

Another blow against MacKayla, she has learned that her sister’s ex-boyfriend and murderer, Malluce, is still alive (or as alive as one could be in his state). He is out for revenge and he is not going to hold back. And if that isn’t enough, V’lane the Fae prince is still coming to her in all is sexual glory.

Once again Moning has created a fast-paced gripping read. The reader is wrapped up in MacKayla’s life and near death and when Bloodfever ends our fingers tingle to pick up the next installment, Faefever, with feverish anticipation.

Lots of info on the fae/human take-over... Very good plot, but if your looking for Karen's hot sex sceens -- look somewhere else

Great fast paced read. McKayla Lane was just a normal girl thrown into the supernatural world after the mysterious death of her sister. In this second book, Mac's experiences have forced her to suffer her old self and push forward thinking exploring her newfound senses. I love how this book has philosophy incorporated into it. Most of these paranormal romance novels really miss some key points. This book deconstructs human behavior and positive thinking in such a great way and still keep the fictional story written well. What I loved best about this book was the clashing and tension between Mac and Jericho Barrons. Finally sex. Nail biting and exciting. I'm wishing for more.

Love this series! must read in order. It is like no other paranormal series I have read. The characters are great.

New to the Moning craze and now I can't wait for her next one! I love the chemistry and the angst between the hero and heroine. Great reading!

Beginning a new series with a new author is always a gamble, the MacKaylaa Lane series is worth the risk! I was pulled into the story from book one!

Book two continues to draw you into MacKaylaa world or intrigue and mysterious men. Dangerous secrets await...

Book 2 in the Fever Series. I started this series because of the recent hype surrounding it AND because I loved the author's Highlander series. However, I continue to be a little disappointed because I thought this series was promoted as paranormal romance. Well, it's definitely paranormal: the characters are wonderful and the story is unique and captivating. But there continues to be very little romance or sex. I love the plot arcs and the characters but I was looking for a little love story too. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself....there is definitely some sexual tension building. Therefore, I will continue to be patient and wait for the character's relationships to develop and in the meantime enjoy a good book. It's definitely a page turner!

Excellent Series...Karen Moning is a seriously talented author, this being the second book in the series is even better than the first( more action,suspense and great story)and it only gets better from here.

Like the previous book this one finds Mac floundering, trying desperately to understand and get some control of what's going on in Dublin. The mysteries surrounding her sister's death continue to absorb her, the police continue dogging her, Barrons continues to puzzle and thwart her and the OOPs collectors get more and more dangerous. And the danger snaps at her heels (and often has her by the throat) throughout the pages. I found the book to be fast-paced, gripping and nearly impossible to put down. I can't say all the main characters are likable but they do seem to get progressively more intriguing. This second book definitely made me eager for the next installment.

Loved it. She just keeps you guessing. Now we have another new player that I cant't wait to read more about, Christian MacKeltar. Sounds yumy. Maybe create a little green eyed monster for Jerico?

This is really an AWESOME series. If you are debating ab out getting it stop debating and dive in I really don't think you will be sorry. Love the characters they are not overwhelming, she does not add 52 new people to every chapter and keeps her main characters wrapped in mystery. You learn something new about them in every book makes you feel like you are right there with Mac discovering things GREAT READING! This is the first series I have gone to bed thinking about the characters and what they were feeling and woke up with them on my mind GREAT SERIES Love that it was simply 5 books too. Sometimes it just nice to end a story line and leave our imaginations to wander thanks Karen!

Alternate life forms living in an "alternate" world unknown for the most part to us humans: if this is your cup of tea, start with the "fever" book #1 and read all 5. I'm thru 3 and #4 is on it's way to me .. .can't wait. You've got to keep an open mind when reading the series. It can be confusing at first. This is why you must start at book #1 as it helps you understand what is going on.

This series is moving right along! I broke into with abandon! There are high points and low points but lots of action in the fight to keep the walls up between realms. There were times when I wanted to reach right through the page and strangle Mac and times when I cheered for her. The tension between Mac and Barrons is tangible. Then V'lane seems to be interested in more than a OOP detector too. I hope someone acts on all this tension soon!

Bloodfever is the second book in a 5 book series. Like the first one it is written in the first person. I love that. Mac is having a conversation with me, and sharing her life in
Dublin.

From the first page to the last, this book surrounds you and takes you on a journey that is incredible, entertaining, and scary!

It is awesome. I am looking forward to reading Faefever.

Awesome!! This book was great! I love how the old, pink, prissy and weak Mac sheds her skin to become the darker, stronger and harder girl in this book. I really like the chemistry/sexual tension between her and Barrons, it fits well together. I CANT wait to read the next one, this is def a series that will be added to my library!

Don't Look For Her Highlander Template!! It isn't here. There is no sex, at least not with a partner. There is no real romance, just a bit of flirting. No happily ever after...

BUT, it is suspenseful, addicting and riveting. The first half was slower but then picked up speed and I resented the intrusion of reality. I hated the ending. Do yourself a favor and get the next books before finishing the current book.

I was 'iffy' after book 1, 'probable' halfway thru this and "HOOKED" after the end.

I am halfway thru book 3 and know that I need to go find book 4 this weekend.

If you are like me, and stalled after the first book, definitely pick up the second. You will not regret it. This story keeps getting better and better, and sinks its hook into you until you are helpless to stop yourself from getting the next volume :)

This is the second book in the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. There are five books planned for this series and the fifth book "Shadowfever" is scheduled to release in January of 2011. This book was an enjoyable read; I liked it a little better than the first book. Mac is finally growing a backbone and we meet some new interesting characters.

Mac is settling into her strange life in Dublin. She is running the bookshop for Barron now and still trying to dodge the creeps that were out to kill her in the first book. Barron is still trying to get her to track down the Sinsar Dubh and she is still having little success. In this book she has a lot more run ins with the Seelie Prince, V'lane and meets the Grand Mistress of Sidhe Seers. The mystery behind Barron's origins deepens. Meanwhile crime and violence in Dublin is growing as the Unseelie population grows; it will be up to Mac and Barron to stop it.

This was a good follow up book to Darkfever. This is one of those series where it is hard to review the books separately because what happens in the current book is so tied to the previous book and to future books. Mac learns a lot more about her Seer powers in this novel. She also spends a lot of time running from monsters. Barron remains mysterious, although him and Mac do start building some chemistry together.

The action in this book is pretty much non-stop. Mac is flung from one desperate situation to another. The plot gets more complex and the world is filled out even more. The writing is easy to read and the book is hard to put down. We are introduced to loads of Unseelie too.

Some interesting characters are introduced in Rowena, the Grand Mistress of Sidhe Seers, and in the guy from Trinity college. Barron's character gains more dimension and we are given some small tantalizing glimpses into his past; but he still remains quite the mystery. Mac grows enormously as a character. Gone is the Barbie doll, in its place is a girl with tenacity and courage that is tougher than we ever thought she could be. Mac tries to be herself though and we are still given detailed descriptions on her attempts to dress cheery.

I was a bit frustrated that the story didn't progress more. One tiny thing in the plot is resolved in this book but the rest is left open. Most of the plot points in the book are just made more complex. The book again ends with a huge cliff hanger. There were many things that I wish this novel included. I wish there was more description of and names given for all the Unseelie encountered. I wish we learned more about Barron. Where are all the Seelie? You would think with all the Unseelie roaming about there would be more Seelie about than just V'lane. In some ways I just wish this was a more complete story.

Overall this was an enjoyable read and I liked it. It didn't absolutely blow me away, like Ilona Andrew's Kate Daniels series did or Faith Hunter's Jane Yellowrock series did. I also wish that each book in this series had a main plot that it wrapped up with an overall plot that went between books; this series is definitely not like that. This book is more like a small part of a larger story than a story in and of itself. I am looking forward to reading the next book, Faefever.

Loving this series, only downside is that I don't have the 3rd or 4th one on had to continue reading it. Mac is becoming a great character for me. She is growing up and finding away to take control her life ~ well as much as she can given the circumstances she is in. She still pines for her old life and craves light and color, but she has become more accepting of place fate has put her in.
I still love Jericho Barrons and am dying to find out what his true story is ~ Moning does a great job in only show flashes of who/what Barrons is really about. V'lane I still don't like. And she has introduced new characters that I hope we will see more of.
If you have not read Darkfever I highly suggest that you do and that you read the books in order. There is a brief synopsis of what happened in Darkfever at the beginning of Bloodfever, but in order to really understand and enjoy what is going on I highly suggest reading Darkfever. Also, the book ends with a cliff hanger, if you are not one who enjoys those then I suggest that you wait until you have all the books ~ the final one comes out in 2011.

Holy crap!!!! If you haven't read the Fever series yet, please start. You don't know what you are missing.

I am blown away by Karen Marie Moning. I always enjoyed her work in the past but I am now enthralled in her new style of writing. She has transformed from a good writer to an extraordinary one. The proof is in the pudding, just read it.

"Bloodfever" is the second installment of this great series. It is written so eloquently. Her writing and descriptions produce so much emotions. The storyline is flawless, in my opinion, and captivates you instantly.

"Bloodfever" is one of those stories that you will be completely engrossed into that when you finish reading you will be disappointed to realize you just read a book of fiction and it's time to get back to your normal boring life.

I love this series, I love this book, and I can't wait for the next one to arrive in December. This is a keeper and I don't think I will post this book; there are certain books that I re-read and I think this is one of them so it won't be leaving my library!

Fun book, easy read, enjoyable. Can't wait to read the next one.
Nice book for readers who don't want to read "adult" scenes.

This is the second book in Karen Marie Moning's fever series (the first is called Darkfever). It's a dark urban fantasy set in Doblin, where young American Mac has traveled to avenge her sister who died there. She discoveres that she is a sihde-seer--she has the ability to see the mystical otherworldly creatures known as Fae, detect objects of power associated with them, and possesses one of the only weapons capable of taking one down. She is in league with Barrons, a mysterious shop owner who needs her help finding a book of dark magical powers.

In this book Mac continues to grow up from the soft optimistic and somewhat useless character she was at the start of the series, into a woman with a spine and a strong will. She learns to fight, learns not to take things at face value, and never to give up. In the midst of all of the ugliness she struggles to identify and hold on to a sense of self. On top of this, the sexual tension between her and Barrons continues to grow though he remains an enigma.

I love the settings in this book, from bookstore to back alley--it really sets the tone. I love watching Mac develope as a character. I felt the plot was well paced and engaging. My only complaint is that it seems like such a transitional book--merely wrapping up a few things from the previous book and setting up for the next one. It has even less stand alone power then Darkfever did. But, if you are a fan of series style fantasy this shouldn't bother you anyway. I highly recommend it.

I loved this book, as well as the series itself so far. I devoured this book in less than 2 days! I did not think I would like this "darker" style by Karen Marie Moning but I really did.

Whether you read this as the second in the series or if you are new to this series, this book is great! It has excellent stand alone qualities but flows extremely well with the series. Even the Mac can tend to be a little annoying, the development and maturing of her character is riveting - not to mention the budding something that she has with Barrons - though it's hard to say exactly what.....

I've never read Karen Moning before and when I was given the first of her Fever series I was hooked! Bloodfever was even better than the first and the book was so good I couldn't wait to go out and get the next. Very good read! I recommend it highly.

This was a good story, but I kept waiting for the romance. I guess there was some subtle hints at romance, but the love story must be in the next book.

This is the second book Karen Moning has written about the Fae and Dublin Ireland. I thought this story was "darker" and more brutal and violent than the first, but tomorrow I will call my local library to see if they have the 3rd book so I can read what happens. Moning keeps many of her story lines a secret, so there are still mysteries and people to unravel and at least one more book (4th) from this series coming out this year.
