My husband felt it was more of a lecture than a story. I enjoyed it though, it is definitely trying to make people more aware of the illegal activities of numerous puppy mills nationwide. I was glad there was a lot of explanation of technical terms in the breeding and showing industries.
Although the topic of this book is hard to read (puppy mills and pet shops), I still found the writing to be enjoyable. The main character is entertaining and the fact that she is so 'dog driven' makes me look a bit more sane! I find Susan Conant's books to be informative, entertaining, and well written.
Alaskan Malamutes, academic ethos and pathos, good read.
A good book for you animal lovers.
