This book is the best from this author. Its contents was rated highly by Amazon.com
and Publisher's Weekly. It is a fast paced medical suspense by an author who used to
be a doctor herself.

AWESOME! Need I say more? But I will. Gerritsen's writing instantly draws you in and keeps you guessing and hanging until the last word. Wonderful stuff.

Fantastic thriller!!! I thought it was very suspenseful and it grabs you from the first page. Gerritsen is getting to be quite known for her medical thrillers and this just proves how great she is. A small town is suddenly stunned by the outbreak of rage among thier teenage children. A doctor who is new to the area and not exactly trusted thinks it is something in their blood. When one of her patients goes on a murder spree she find herself being blamed for the incident. The more she tries to figure out the problem the more the people of the town seem to go against her. When her own son starts showing problems with rage she knows she has to find out the source of the problem or lose the one thing she treasures the most.
The story itself kept me on the edge of my seat and I just couldn't wait to read more. What bugged me about this book is what was in the "bloodstream" of the kids. It was more then a little unbelievable to me. I won't give anything away though because this book really is a good thriller and won't disappoint.

Relatively plausible medical thriller, takes place in a small New England town. As good as a Stephen King story.

This was a book that was hard to put down. Turns out that the end was a complete surprise to me. I recommend this book to someone who wants to escape into a good plot for a rainy day off read.

I thought that this was a good read. In fact, good enough to cause me to want to read more by this author, and that doesn't happen all that often. I tend to enjoy medical thrillers and this author does a good job with that genre. I'd recommend this book.
Every Tess Gerritsen I read keeps me glued to the pages until I'm finished and this was no exception! This author knows how to grab you on page one and keeps the tension and surprises and twists and turns coming.
Gerritsen reminds me of a female Stephen King and she happens to be one of my very favorite female authors. This book is no exception to her fantastic style of putting together a medical mystery that you just don't want to put down. Love Her!!
Great story. Chilling at times. Lot of medical tech talk. Not for the squeamish!
Great read and hard to put down.
Great read and hard to put down.
This is an excellent Tess Gerritsen thriller. Kept me guessing!
Good thriller without too much Murder. Plays out well if not a bit predictably - great beach/poolside read.
This is the first novel I've read by Tess Gerritsen and it definitely won't be the last. A friend had recommended her books to me and she is as good as I had been told. A real page-turner, you won't want to put it down.
Lapped by the gentle waters of Locust Lake, the resort town of Tranquility, Maine, seems like the perfect spot for Dr. Claire Elliot to shelter her adolescent son, Noah, from the distractions of the big city and the lingering memory of his father's death. But with the first snap of winter comes the shocking news that puts her practice on the line; a teenage boy under her care has committed an appalling act of violence. And as Claire and all of Tranquility soon discover, it is just the start of a chain of lethal outbursts among the town's teenagers.

As usual Tess keeps me on the edge of the seat!!!
Good reading
I really enjoyed this well done book about a small town doctor who's struggling to solve the mystery of a violent outbreak.
Another pleaser from Gerritsen.
Will keep you on the edge of your seat. A page turner.
The front cover has a different picture but it is one of Gerritsen's best thrillers. I could not put it down! You will enjoy this book.
Yum, yum - another delicious thriller from Tess Gerritsen. Locust Lake seems like the perfect place for Claire Elliot and her son to start a new life, but something isn't right....and she and Noah may pay the ultimate price when she's too close to finding out the truth. This is a good one - you won't be able to put it down!
What I like best about Tess is her characters are not repeats! Yet they all have personality plus. Not romance, but mystery, with a female touch.
Excellent medical thriller!
Good fast medical drama read.
This author is absolutely fantastic in weaving a mystery.
As usual, Gerritson keeps you from the 1st page to the last. Excellent read.
A novel of medical suspence. If you want to start reading you had better giving plenty of time, you will yourself too caught in the plots to put it down.

Lapped by the gentle waters of Locust Lake, the small resort town of Tranquility, Maine, seems like the perfect spot for Dr. Claire Elliot to shelter her adolescent son, Noah, from the distractions of the big city, and the lingering memory of his father's death. And she's hopeful that she can earn the trust of the town as she builds a new practice. But all her plans unravel with the first snap of winter, and the news of a shocking incident: a teenage boy under her care has committed an appalling act of violence. Claire had stopped prescribing a controversial drug to the troubled boy, a decision that some in the town now second-guess. But before she can defend herself a rash of new violence erupts in Tranquility. And when one of her patients dies, the town's panic turns to fury. Shaken by the accusations, and fearful that Noah is now at risk, Claire desperately searches for a medical cause behind the murderous epidemic. But while Claire races to save the town - and her son - from harm, she discovers an even greater threat: a shocking conspiracy to manipulate nature, and turn innocents to slaughter.
