After putting a 14 ounce book (with PBS paid postage and confirmation) in the box, I see a sign about not mailing packages over 13 ounces in the box.   Will my book be returned to me?

No. If it has trackable postage, such as PBS Printable Postage or Paypal Postage, then you can mail it anywhere.

Thanks for the answer.  I don't usually mail books over 8 ounces, so hadn't thought about it before.  That's why I like printable postage, it simplifies things for everyone!

The 13 oz rule is if your package uses postage stamps for the postage.  If you use PBS postage or any other online postage, you can drop any weight of packge in a blue box, providing it will fit inside!

I had a book that weighed 13.2 ounces,  I was at work and should have a note near my computer monitor to remind me of the 13 ounce rule..but I havent made the note yet~~ grrrrrr, I forgot.

( I keep thinking its 15 ounces...)

My car is in the shop, so a friend of mine took me to the store and we dropped the book off at a

blue box...then it hit me--

I was using stamps..will the book be returned to me? ( if they catch the weight of the book?)

Yes, if they catch the weight of the book they'll send it back to you.

You might get lucky but then you might not. If it makes it through, I wouldn't risk it again.

I accidentally stuck a book w/no postage at all into the blue box.  I put it in there Wed or Thur.  It didn't occur to me until later that I didn't use the printed postage. It was small and I was just going to use stamps.  It still hasn't come back to me.  I PM'd the requestor to let them know I'll buddy them enough credits to cover the postage if it comes postage due and that it might be late if it comes back to me.  I hope it comes back soon because I'm going house hunting next weekend and I'll be gone a week.

I had a person send me a book over 13 oz with stamps and it was reported lost before she got it back and it is now on its way back to me so I will report it received when it arrives. It all depends on which person in which post office has their hands on it. No logical reasons for what happens to our mail at times.
