Blue Hat Green Hat - Board Book Author:Sandra Boynton Well, the other animals seem to be able to put their clothes on (a task that takes quite a bit of early skill, as any parent or grandparent knows). But what about the poor rooster? Ooops! The poor thing just can't get it right. — This wonderful book is special on many levels. First of all, it tickles a toddler's funny bone like no other... listen... more » to your child yell, "Ooops!" and break up laughing. Definitely a plus right there. Then, it subtly teaches colors (the blue hat is indeed blue, the green hat is indeed green, and so forth). And finally, it shows the child that it's OK to make mistakes, and that learning such a huge task as dressing oneself can be hard even for roosters! --W. Kaplan« less
I LOVE this book! Not only is it fun to read but it is also a great beginning to read book. I really have trouble with helping kids read with BORING books, so this is a great place to start. There is not a lot of figuring out to do, so once they figure out the pattern they can predict what comes next and feel successful as a reader. All my kids 'read' this as one of their first books. They loved to read it over and over.
My daughter and I love this book. It's one of the first books that she now reads to me! (And she's not even 2 yet!) The book shows a few animals wearing an article of clothing correctly, and then a turkey wearing it the wrong way (like a shoe on his head). Whenever you get to the turkey, the caption is "Oops!". My daughter volunteers the "Oops" and then tells me what the turkey did wrong ("shoe on head!"). A very fun book to read together.
