Another excellent thriller from Tess Gerritsen! She's quickly become one of my faves! Body Double picks up where The Sinner leaves off, bringing back her cast of fabulously human characters. Tightly plotted, very smartly written, sometimes brutal, often funny ... most recommended!

This book in the series reveals a lot of backstory on Dr. Isles, and it explores where she comes from and who her parents are. Very creepy premise - to find a dead twin that you didn't know you had, murdered on your doorstep!

Much better than I'd expected! I don't read the covers and so was carried away by the story with no warnings of what might happen. It held together particularly well with plenty of twists and turns.

This is one of her best.
Kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put it down at all. I loved how the story took you in many different directions and I couldn't tell if it was present day or not. I must admit that I didn't figure it all out until the end.
Another good one by Gerritsen.
Great series!
This book was very gooD
Most excellent suspense - Tess Gerritsen does it again. Keeps you entertained to the end. A "must read" in her Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles series. Keep reading her series - she only gets better, if that's possible.
Another excellent Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles book! Worth reading!
This book was excellent! I couldn't put it down. Just when I thought I had it all figured out I realized I didn't. Great book!
A woman is found shot to death outside Boston Medical Examiner Maura Isles' home. Everyone is shocked when they see she is a dead ringer for Dr. Isles. Even more shocking is the fact that they share the same blood type and birth date. Maura, an only child, is stunned when DNA tests confirm that the murdered woman is her twin sister.
This book was very hard to put down. As always, Tess Gerritsen delivers a great mystery with a twist at the end. My rating: 5 Stars.

Very good read!
I read this book in one sitting. It is riveting and keeps you wanting more, even when it is over. Highly recommend this for Gerritsen fans and mystery lovers.
A good thriller. I don't have any experience with this author, but the book was enough of a stand-alone that I didn't feel like I was missing out by not starting with book #1 featuring this character.
I've read elsewhere that it's great for a medical mystery, but I don't really consider it a medical mystery. Sure, the main character is a Medical Examiner, but the only medical jargon is appropriate when describing causes of death. (Or maybe I'm too steeped in Discovery Channel medical shows and Kathy Reichs' "Bones" novels)
A little gory, but not done to death. The premise is creepy, and the ending might surprise you.

Good book, would recommend.
The woman found shot to death outside Maura's home is the mirror image of Maura, down to the most intimate physical nuances. They even share the same birthdate and blood type. But Maura is an only child.
Wonderful and engaging thriller
Hard to put down.
" It's scary just how good Tess Gerritsen is ---- this is a crime writing at it's unputdownable, nerve tingling best" Harlan Coben
Dr. Maura Isles, Boston medical examiner, makes her living dealing with death, and sees more than her share of corpses every day. But never before has her blood run cold, and never has the grim expression "dead ringer" rung so terrifyingly true. Because never before has the lifeless body on the medical examiner's table been her own.

"Dr. Maura Isles makes her living dealing with death. As a pathologist in a major metropolitan city, she has seen more than her share of corpses every day - many of them victims of violent murder. But never before has her blood run cold, and never has the grim expression "dead ringer" rung so terrifyingly true. Because never before has the lifeless body on the medical examiner's table been her own." "Yet there can be no denying the mind-reeling evidence before her shocked eyes and those of her colleagues, including Detective Jane Rizzoli: the woman found shot to death outside Maura's home is the mirror image of Maura, down to the most intimate physical nuances. Even more chilling is the discovery that they share the same birth date and blood type. For the stunned Maura, an only child, there can be just one explanation. And when a DNA test confirms that Maura's mysterious doppelganger is in fact her twin sister, an already bizarre murder investigation becomes a disturbing and dangerous excursion into a past full of dark secrets." Searching for answers, Maura is drawn to a seaside town in Maine where other horrifying surprises await. But perhaps more frightening, an unknown murderer is at large on a cross-country killing spree. To stop the massacre and uncover the twisted truth about her own roots, Maura must probe her first living subject: the mother that she never knew...an icy and cunning woman who could be responsible for giving Maura life - and who just may have a plan to take it away.
