Although this story is about the crash that took Princess Diana's life, it's not the story of Diana. It's the story as told from the perspective of bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones who was the sole survivor of the crash.
It takes you from a few weeks before the crash til well after and through Rees-Jones' recovery and trials and tribulations he went through with Mr. Fayed.
A very interesting story, particularly about his injuries and his recovery but I lost interest about 3/4 of the way through the book in his problems with Mr. Fayed.
A worthwhile read though.

This is the story of the bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones, who was the only survivor of the car crash that claimed the lives of Dodi Fayad, Princess Diana, and the driver. It is a stunning story.
One major point: The bodyguard was hired by Mr. Al Fayad to be the personal bodyguard of his son Dodi. The bodyguards boss was Al Fayad- you do not disobey your boss. That sets the framework for bodyguards who are constantly thwarted at doing their jobs, often surprised with changes in plans, and whose professional opinions are discounted.
The Princess had no security, therefore, she becomes the bodyguards responsibility, too. Understaffed, over-ruled, and doing the best they could- that is the story of the bodyguards.
Written and printed in Great Britain; not all that well written, but still highly interesting.
