Valli, I've read DRM's first book The Courtier's Secret and was fairly underwhelmed. Her prose was terribly purple at the start although it improved later. The worst for me was the head-clubbing-mind-numbing-way-too-much-historical-detail. That plus some eye rolling hard to believe she could change out of all that dress and petticoats by herself (let alone hide it under a privy lid) and getting in and out of the male clothing. Just my humble opinion though - wouldn't want anyone knocking me for that
