How "deep" will you typically dig into a member's bookshelves?

Do you like to make an offer or know in advance what the offer is?

Do you bother looking at a shelf in which there are no deals offered at all?

Do you mind if someone bumps their shelf for months?

Do you like a "suprise" shelf or do you want to know in advance what genres they've got before you bother clicking their on bookshelf?

If a thread IS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS DOES IT GRAB YOUR ATTENTION AND MAKE YOU WANT TO BROWSE THEIR SHELF?

Do you like complicated deals? As in "18/1, but not for hardbacks. Hardbacks are 2/1, but not Koonz novels....etc.

How "deep" will you typically dig into a member's bookshelves? --  if the first page or two shows nothing of the sort I'm interested in, I won't usually look on

Do you like to make an offer or know in advance what the offer is? -- I prefer to know in adance, I'm shy about making offers

Do you bother looking at a shelf in which there are no deals offered at all? -- not very often, unless I have ordered a book from someone and want to give them a break on postage

Do you mind if someone bumps their shelf for months? -- I would probably find it a little irritating, but if they're following the rules...

Do you like a "suprise" shelf or do you want to know in advance what genres they've got before you bother clicking their on bookshelf? --DEFINITELY want to know in advance!  The unlabled deal is a pain in the @#$@#$.

If a thread IS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS DOES IT GRAB YOUR ATTENTION AND MAKE YOU WANT TO BROWSE THEIR SHELF? -- eh, I dunno.

Do you like complicated deals? As in "18/1, but not for hardbacks. Hardbacks are 2/1, but not Koonz novels....etc.-- hate them, usually won't bother.

I definitely like to know that I'm not going to run into a shelf with all Silhouette/Blaze/Harlequin books. I prefer to have the deal listed as well as genres. There are some deals that are a little ridiculous where they want 3 credits for 5 books...I will not even look at the shelf past that point, if it's not really even worth it. =)

How "deep" will you typically dig into a member's bookshelves? -- If it is less than 300 I will do page by page unless I see NOTHING on the first page. Larger than that, I filter by genre.

Do you like to make an offer or know in advance what the offer is? -- I prefer knowing what the offer is, but I am not shy about proposing something different.

Do you bother looking at a shelf in which there are no deals offered at all? -- Never in the Bazaar. Although, I will look at members shelves who post in the genre forums that I am interested in.

Do you mind if someone bumps their shelf for months? -- Yes, I am very tired of seeing the same small bookshelves for months on end.

Do you like a "suprise" shelf or do you want to know in advance what genres they've got before you bother clicking their on bookshelf? -- Don't care, but some genres MAKE me look in spite of myself. Although, if ALL your books are in one genre, I think its better to note that in the post.

If a thread IS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS DOES IT GRAB YOUR ATTENTION AND MAKE YOU WANT TO BROWSE THEIR SHELF? -- I despise all caps and it makes my eyes tired!!!!! STOP ALL CAPS!!!

@@@@Not a big fan of ***this*** either @@@@@@

Do you like complicated deals? As in "18/1, but not for hardbacks. Hardbacks are 2/1, but not Koonz novels....etc. -- NO! Its too hard to keep track of, first trying to find books that I want in the first place and then figuring out of I have done the complicated deal correctly.

How "deep" will you typically dig into a member's bookshelves? If is less than 200 I will go page by page if not I will use the genre filter

Do you like to make an offer or know in advance what the offer is? I like to know what the offer is so I know how many books I can get

Do you bother looking at a shelf in which there are no deals offered at all? Sometimes if the have title to their thread that catches my eye.

Do you mind if someone bumps their shelf for months?  yes because it bumps other shelves down

Do you like a "suprise" shelf or do you want to know in advance what genres they've got before you bother clicking their on bookshelf?  I want too know what they genres they have on their shelf.  Im really a mystery/thriller reader and don't care for much romance.  I find it  irritating to go to a shelf  and all you see  is  Silhouette/Blaze/Harlequin  type of books.

If a thread IS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS DOES IT GRAB YOUR ATTENTION AND MAKE YOU WANT TO BROWSE THEIR SHELF?  yes i will check out their shelf if I see all capital letters

Do you like complicated deals? As in "18/1, but not for hardbacks. Hardbacks are 2/1, but not Koonz novels....etc.  No complicated deals it makes it hard to find books and then make sure you are following the details for the deal.

if i make a deal from the book bazaar i make sure to WATCH THIS TOPIC until i receive the books.. that way i know for sure that the books i get in the mail are the ones i really posted on the thread .

numbers don't always win me over ...as in 4 for 1  and yadda yadda..

it is the books that i want not the amount of books they are offering..

and if see the genre posted in the thread title i will click on it.. as in ... if i see COZY or CHIC LIT or MYSTERY

1)  If I don't see anything I want on the first page or so, I'll sort by genre or recently posted books

2)  Either way, doesn't matter.  If I see multiple books on a shelf w/o deals, I'm not afraid to make an offer

3)  Periodically I'll look at my Buddies' lists, or when a WL book becomes available, I always look for more books to add to my order

4)  It does get annoying.  I try not to bump my posts for more than a week, especially if there are no responses

5)  Prefer to know in advance.  I don't like wasting time looking at Non-Fiction, Paranormal/Fantasy, Self-Help, Childrens, etc.

6)  YES, YES, YES!!  I look at these posts FIRST!  I assume they have something worth looking at if they're trying to get my attention.  I get so tired of seeing complaints about members yelling, screaming, being rude, etc.  We're not emailing/texting here!  We're trying to help you out by offering something you might be looking for.  You know???  :o)  In order to make everyone happy, maybe PBS could make it possible for us to use BOLD in our Subject lines???  Then we wouldn't have to use UPPERCASE to draw attention.

7)  The more complicated the deal, the sooner I'm moving on...

How "deep" will you typically dig into a member's bookshelves?  --  Depends on how tired I am...  or how much time I have..  if its longer than 3 pages, will hit control f and type in reminder, and continue thru the rest.

Do you like to make an offer or know in advance what the offer is?  -- I prefer to see an offer... however I will initiate a deal if the member has a profile and had been a member at least one year.

Do you bother looking at a shelf in which there are no deals offered at all?  -- Yes, If its a shelf I haven't looked at before.

Do you mind if someone bumps their shelf for months? -- Not if I see that at least a few new books have been added to that shelf since I looked at it last.

Do you like a "suprise" shelf or do you want to know in advance what genres they've got before you bother clicking their on bookshelf?

--  Prefer to know in advance.  Don't like looking at shelves that are mostly childrens books or Silhouette/Blaze/Harlequin  type of books.

If a thread IS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS DOES IT GRAB YOUR ATTENTION AND MAKE YOU WANT TO BROWSE THEIR SHELF?  -- Don't really care either way, but would prefer bold to caps.

Do you like complicated deals? As in "18/1, but not for hardbacks. Hardbacks are 2/1, but not Koonz novels....etc.  -- Either/or, doesn't matter.

How "deep" will you typically dig into a member's bookshelves?     If more than 150 - 200 books I search by genre

Do you like to make an offer or know in advance what the offer is?   I like to know what I am working with.  :)

Do you bother looking at a shelf in which there are no deals offered at all?     Yes...  I usually will just look at the first page.  If nothing grabs my attention then I move on.

Do you mind if someone bumps their shelf for months?    Yes  ... Unless they are always adding new stuff...

Do you like a "suprise" shelf or do you want to know in advance what genres they've got before you bother clicking their on bookshelf?   I like when they list what they have.  Sometimes it just what I am looking for and sometimes I know not to waste my time.

If a thread IS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS DOES IT GRAB YOUR ATTENTION AND MAKE YOU WANT TO BROWSE THEIR SHELF?   I don't care how they get my attention.

Do you like complicated deals? As in "18/1, but not for hardbacks. Hardbacks are 2/1, but not Koonz novels....etc.    Nope..  I just pass them by.  I get confused easy.. LOL

I mostly use the Bazaar to try to get rid of books.  I like to see who is requesting deals to see if I have anything I can offer that person.  I try not to "shop" here because my goal is to move books OUT not IN.  I like when a person titles the thread "Looking for deals on Patterson" or "Looking for chick lit deals" rather than "Do you have this book?"  or "Looking for..." and making me click thru to see what they want.

I've actually stayed away from the book bazaar until recently because I was ordering way  too much stuff!

How "deep" will you typically dig into a member's bookshelves? depends - usually 200 is ideal or maybe up to 300..more than that and I'm turned off unless I search by genre

Do you like to make an offer or know in advance what the offer is? yes I hate asking about an offer though if there's stuff I really like I'll usually pm with the ones I'm interested in and ask what kind of deal

Do you bother looking at a shelf in which there are no deals offered at all? no why should I unless I"m bored or the book(s) mentioned sound like something I'd like to order regardless. the exception is when I'm ordering something FIFO I'll usually check the person's shelf to see if there's something else I'd like

Do you mind if someone bumps their shelf for months? I find it irritating sometimes but if they're following the rules not much to say

Do you like a "suprise" shelf or do you want to know in advance what genres they've got before you bother clicking their on bookshelf? I want to know what's on the shelf..either in the title or the first line in the first post and something like 'lots of harlequins' or 'love inspired' helps because I find those annoying when I'm not looking for them and when I AM looking for those I can search the forum and find those deals.

If a thread IS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS DOES IT GRAB YOUR ATTENTION AND MAKE YOU WANT TO BROWSE THEIR SHELF? I don't like the all caps threads - I find it jarring and distracting

guess I forgot one but I hate the complicated ones..wont' even mess with those. I also like the 3/1 or better deals..guess I'm just spoiled LOL!

Oh, and the real killer close the thread quick thing for me (and I know others think it's just bumping) but I like to see 'thanks or shelf updated' or something because if there's a 3/1 deal or better going on and 2 people or more have responded there's no way I can keep track of their freebies so I don't request the same ones..if I scroll down and see something from the OP then I know it's probably clear at that point.

How "deep" will you typically dig into a member's bookshelves?  If it's less than about 300 books, I'll skim each page, but any more than that (or if I'm feeling lazy!), I just hit Ctrl F and search for my reminder list books.

Do you like to make an offer or know in advance what the offer is?  I'd rather know the offer up front.

Do you bother looking at a shelf in which there are no deals offered at all?  Not usually - I come to the Book Bazaar to try to find deals on books I'm looking for.

Do you mind if someone bumps their shelf for months?  Sometimes it's annoying unless they're adding new things almost every day.

Do you like a "suprise" shelf or do you want to know in advance what genres they've got before you bother clicking their on bookshelf?  If it's mostly one or two genres, I'd like to know in case it's something I'm not interested in.

If a thread is IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS DOES IT GRAB YOUR ATTENTION AND MAKE YOU WANT TO BROWSE THEIR SHELF?  It doesn't really matter to me either way.

Do you like complicated deals?  As in "18/1, but not for hardbacks. Hardbacks are 2/1 but not Koonz novels....etc.  Straightforward deals are better, but I'll usually take a look at the shelf anyway.  The only ones I don't really look at are the " X pounds of books for X credits" and the "Fill this box with books for X credits" type.

How "deep" will you typically dig into a member's bookshelves?----before digging I seperate the bookshelf by either my favorite genre or by author

Do you like to make an offer or know in advance what the offer is?---I like to know in advance

Do you bother looking at a shelf in which there are no deals offered at all?---No

Do you mind if someone bumps their shelf for months?----I think there should be a cap on bumping-perhaps no more then a week

Do you like a "suprise" shelf or do you want to know in advance what genres they've got before you bother clicking their on bookshelf? ---again I just resort the bookshelf

If a thread IS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS DOES IT GRAB YOUR ATTENTION AND MAKE YOU WANT TO BROWSE THEIR SHELF?----makes no difference

Do you like complicated deals? As in "18/1, but not for hardbacks. Hardbacks are 2/1, but not Koonz novels....etc. -----No, I usually ignore

!)How deep?    If I dont see any of my favorite genre's ,I wont continue after the first page or two.

2) I like to know deals up front.

3)Deals are what grabs my attention , however I may look at the first page or two but only order whats on my R.L . I get two overwhelmed with book shelfs that  are like hundreds or more.

4) Once every few weeks is plenty ,unless they add new books.

5)I like to know in advance. Wont look at shelfs w/ fantasy , sci-fi , self help , childrens ( I will however look for teens for my daughter)

6)  Does'nt matter either way. ( just because they are bolded doesnt mean they are in my favorite genre)

7 ) Dont like complicated deals, i'll skip them altogether .

by the way this iis a great  topic !

How "deep" will you typically dig into a member's bookshelves?  One page is usually all that's necessary

Do you like to make an offer or know in advance what the offer is?  I hate haggling. If you set up shop here at BB, please state your offer up front.

Do you bother looking at a shelf in which there are no deals offered at all?  Nope. I don't bother.

Do you mind if someone bumps their shelf for months?  Yes I mind if everyone has seen your unchanged shelf for months and months. If people are not requesting your books, maybe it's time for the round file or the charity donation pile.

Do you like a "suprise" shelf or do you want to know in advance what genres they've got before you bother clicking their on bookshelf?         I like to know what genre's are available before I click.

If a thread IS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS DOES IT GRAB YOUR ATTENTION AND MAKE YOU WANT TO BROWSE THEIR SHELF? I hate screamers so all cap announcements tell me to skip it altogether.

Do you like complicated deals? As in "18/1, but not for hardbacks. Hardbacks are 2/1, but not Koonz novels....etc

I skip complicated deals. I also skip 3/2 deals. I mean, really...

I'll dig, unless I see the first page is romance, etc.

I used to be put off by a bookshelf of gobs, but now that I know I can sort, that's not a problem.

I like to know the offer up front.

Not crazy about no deals.

I ignore bumping, unless there are books added.

ALL CAPITALS AND ^$%^&@# don't bother me.

Complicated deals don't bother me, either.

In addition: I'm not crazy about deals on shelves that contain only 15 books. This is usually a waste of time for me.

I like the posts of ....Looking for (certain kind of book or series)....People have helped me out here and I have had great feedback, too.

First thing I look for is a deal, the larger it is the better I like it. If there is a deal then I search for the author that I want to read next.

I don't like "make your own deal". Tell me your deal to start with.

If there is no deal  then I skip the post because I order a single book from the next person in line.

I don't like small bookshelves and I don't like misleading or confusing posts. "Looking for mysteries" does this mean they are looking or am I looking . "R U looking for mysteries" "I am looking for mysteries" If I am confused I skip.

Ideal post to me : "6  for 1,  500 books "  Add genre if  you want to but with 500 books you probably have all kinds.

CAPS or small does not matter. Bump once a day and after a week then drop it because most everyone has seen it.

I think the special characters are just a way of marking a post so the owner can easily find it. Doesn't bother me.

How "deep" will you typically dig into a member's bookshelves?  - I don't.  I look at a couple genres and that's it.

Do you like to make an offer or know in advance what the offer is? - I want to know the offer in advance.

Do you bother looking at a shelf in which there are no deals offered at all? - If they have certain genres (and tell me so in the title) yes.   More likely to look at an interesting shelf with no deals than a generic shelf with a deal. I have plenty of books!

Do you mind if someone bumps their shelf for months?  YES!

Do you like a "suprise" shelf or do you want to know in advance what genres they've got before you bother clicking their on bookshelf? I will not click on a shelf if I don't have a good idea that there is something interesting there. Generally I won't click on a thread without a good feel I'm going ot be interested.

If a thread IS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS DOES IT GRAB YOUR ATTENTION AND MAKE YOU WANT TO BROWSE THEIR SHELF? NO IT MAKES ME WANT TO RUN AWAY.

Do you like complicated deals? As in "18/1, but not for hardbacks. Hardbacks are 2/1, but not Koonz novels....etc.  I do not like complicated deals, but one restriction I can handle (4/1 on paperbacks, or 3/1 on mysteries only, for example).

--

The main threads I look at in the BB are folks looking for books. I'm mainly interested in getting rid of books en masse--so I like seeing posts from folks who want deals on genres of books.  I despise "Here's my RL I want deals on them" and then being faced with a huge list of titles.  That's even less interesting to me than "Look at my shelf!" with no details given.  It's slower.  I

I can skim the BB really fast, since there are almost no deal threads that list generes in the title and even fewer that have interesting genres. The books wanted thread tend to also be "books wanted" as the title and a quick opening of those are 4/1 on a list of title.  Hits all my buttons--poor title of thread, long list of specific titles, and wanting a one-sided deal that costs the sender extra shipping per credit.

How "deep" will you typically dig into a member's bookshelves?  If the shelf is small I resort by author and for the larger shelfs I sort by genre and then author.

Do you like to make an offer or know in advance what the offer is?  I like to know up front but If one is not offered I am not opposed to making an offer.

Do you bother looking at a shelf in which there are no deals offered at all?  Yeah.  You never know what you might find (I have found a few gems).

Do you mind if someone bumps their shelf for months?  If they are moving books and both sides are happy  - then no.  I am also not opposed to someone bumping at different times during the week to get a wider exposer of their shelf.  But if it is a week or so and the books are not moving then it is time to take a break and try another time and either restock/update the shelf.  And it does not matter whether the books are moving or not the rules need to be followed!

Do you like a "suprise" shelf or do you want to know in advance what genres they've got before you bother clicking their on bookshelf?  Definetly what to know.

If a thread IS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS DOES IT GRAB YOUR ATTENTION AND MAKE YOU WANT TO BROWSE THEIR SHELF?  Doesn't matter to me.

Do you like complicated deals? As in "18/1, but not for hardbacks. Hardbacks are 2/1, but not Koonz novels....etc. Not a big fan of this.

How "deep" will you typically dig into a member's bookshelves?  Depends on the kind of books I see on the first page or so.

Do you like to make an offer or know in advance what the offer is?  "I like to know up front but If one is not offered I am not opposed to making an offer."

Do you bother looking at a shelf in which there are no deals offered at all?  Absolutely will look.  It's the books that grab me, not the deals.

Do you mind if someone bumps their shelf for months?  In my opinion, the bumping is abused.  I am a rule-follower and wish others were too.  I don't think the addition of , say, six books warrants a new post.

Do you like a "suprise" shelf or do you want to know in advance what genres they've got before you bother clicking their on bookshelf?  I don't need to know what the genres are...I'll find out when I look at the shelf.

If a thread IS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS DOES IT GRAB YOUR ATTENTION AND MAKE YOU WANT TO BROWSE THEIR SHELF?  Hate, hate, hate all caps.   I do feel like I'm being yelled at.  Not a fan of the funny little marks like this ## **, etc. either.

Do you like complicated deals? As in "18/1, but not for hardbacks. Hardbacks are 2/1, but not Koonz novels....etc. Losing brain cells daily so cannot process complicated deals.

How "deep" will you typically dig into a member's bookshelves?  - I'll look at the first screen or two just to get a feel for what they have.

Do you like to make an offer or know in advance what the offer is? - I like to know in advance.  Negotiating takes too long.

Do you bother looking at a shelf in which there are no deals offered at all? - Yes, I send buddy requests who like books that are similar to mine.  I also look at shelves of folks who post in the genre forums or in Games.

Do you mind if someone bumps their shelf for months? - Yes, it is incredibly annoying to see the same offer for months.  When I first joined there was a person who literally had bumped her two for one offer hundreds of times!

Do you like a "suprise" shelf or do you want to know in advance what genres they've got before you bother clicking their on bookshelf - A brief description is nice because there are a lot of posts to wade through.

If a thread IS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS DOES IT GRAB YOUR ATTENTION AND MAKE YOU WANT TO BROWSE THEIR SHELF? - No, I look at the date the threads were started for the best pickins.'  I don't know why my post is in all bold, I can't seem to change it.

Do you like complicated deals? As in "18/1, but not for hardbacks. Hardbacks are 2/1, but not Koonz novels....etc. - No.  People always mess them up then don't get the books they want.

I normally will look at up to 100 books - if I haven't seen something I like by then I don't go further.

In advance

I don't care if people post there deals week after week, month after month.

I am more likely to look if I know what genre in general they have on their shelf.

I LOVE ALL CAPS AND HAVE NEVER UNDERSTOOD WHY PEOPLE THINK IT'S SHOUTING. (I know that is what is normal thinking for computer folks, just have never understood why)  It's just bigger letters to me.

The simplier the better.

How "deep" will you typically dig into a member's bookshelves?  I sort by genre.  If the first page doesn't speak to me, then I am done.

Do you like to make an offer or know in advance what the offer is?   I prefer to know the offer in the book bazaar

Do you bother looking at a shelf in which there are no deals offered at all?   In the book bazaar I want to only look at shelves with offers.   If you are looking for something, put it in the title.

Do you mind if someone bumps their shelf for months?  I don't like the daily bumps and seeing the same names.  The new shelves move down the list to quickly with the same old bumpers/shelves taking up all the space.

Do you like a "suprise" shelf or do you want to know in advance what genres they've got before you bother clicking their on bookshelf?  If you note what the shelf contains, I am more likely to look at it if its my genre.

If a thread IS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS DOES IT GRAB YOUR ATTENTION AND MAKE YOU WANT TO BROWSE THEIR SHELF?   No.  Its the subject of the thread that gets my interest.  Not how its typed.

Do you like complicated deals? As in "18/1, but not for hardbacks. Hardbacks are 2/1, but not Koonz novels....etc.    If I have to read it twice to figure it out, I move on.  The dozen books for one credit does nothing for me.  I want the books I am looking for.  2 for 1 actually works most of the time.  3/1 is a nice treat.
