I have had one transaction on my book box list for a loooong time.  The person I exchanged with received the one I sent and marked it as such.  I never received the one I had requested and never received an answer to my PM's.  Is there a way to get rid of this listing without marking it 'received'?  I hate to have it sitting there but I also hate to mark it received when it wasn't.

Yes, there is a way. First, be sure you have checked the person's account to make sure they are still active, and if so, make sure you asked them if they sent your books.

Then do the above if they do not respond, mark the transaction with a Negative transaction, and state that you never rec'd your box of books. Then send in Feedback  (on the Contact Us page) and tell PBS that you did not received your books and would they please remove the book from your active transactions.

They should take care of it within a couple days. I'm not sure if they write the other member first or not, but they will take care of it, if the member does not.
