Yesterday I was offered a book I have been waiting on for a long time. The Red Hot Chili Cook-Off  by Carolyn Brown, then I got a email saying it was canceled because of my request, which reads, " if I order a hard back book from you, please make sure it has a dust cover " this book is a paper back and doesn't come in a hard back as of yet,  So I'm back to waiting again !!! Oh well, you can't fix   " STUPID "

Charlotte - I recommend you edit your requester condition to say something like this:

If I ordered a paperback from you, please send it!  I can't wait to read it!

If I ordered a hardback from you, please include the dust jacket.  If you don't have the dust jacket, please click "Does Not Meet Conditions".

You can also turn your RC on and off and only use it for books that apply. I do that with my DJ RC and it works very well.

"If I order a hard back book from you, please make sure it has a dust cover."

What is rude about that? Not like it starts out, "Hey DUMMY!  If I order a hard back..." etc.

Before you accept the wishlist offer, you can go to your settings page and toggle off/on your requester conditions.

If you want to turn off your conditions, change the drop down to No.  If you want to turn them on, change the drop down to Yes.

If you want to turn off your conditions, change the drop down to No.  If you want to turn them on, change the drop down to Yes.

And be sure you click to save your settings.

I don't turn on auto-request for the wish list books I want to add my RC to. When someone offers it to me, I turn on the RC and then accept.

ETA - Your RC isn't rude at all!

I sure hope there are no more on here like you, If everyone declined just because it has a RC , it would sure hurt the book club. And my RC was not rude at all.

Charlotte, there was nothing wrong with your RC.  Some people don't bother reading them and just decline them.

So what's the point of being on a wish list and waiting your turn if people are just going to decline them any way, People who do that with out reading the RC should be banned.

Um, no. It's completely within people's rights to accept or decline any requester condition they wish. Just as it's your right to make any condition. Your request doesn't guarantee another member's favorable response. That's why denying requests that go above and beyond site postability rules is perfectly okay. If you want something extra, you accept the risk of being turned down.

ETA - And that includes the possibility of being turned down for being the sort of person who makes condition requests above and beyond site rules, not just for the content of the request. Thems the breaks.

Some people don't read RCs at all and just decline. It is the chance you take when you have RC. I have requestor conditions and decided I am ok with getting turned down from time to time.

As I said, people can decline to fulfil your request for being the sort of person who makes requests. The reason for the refusal can be for literally any reason. That is the risk one takes when adding a special condition.

Pasted below is the text of my Requestor's Condition.   Ever since I put this in place several years ago, I haven't had any problems.

Please note that this condition does not apply to any paperback books. If the book that I have requested from you is paperback book or an audiobook, please IGNORE this condition and click on "Yes, my book meets the requestor's conditions."

However, if I have requested a hardback book from you, I would prefer that the book have the dust jacket.

Thanks.
