I believe any Book Club books aren't acceptable here, correct?  I've tried searching and can't find any info.

Why aren't they?  I have a friend who just offered me about 40 newer Book Club Books, all hardback and I wondered how they would be postable.

Book Club books are okay to post here.  I searched for "Book Club" in the Help Center and the first result was titled "Is my book okay to post here?" or something like that.  On that page it says

Book Club Editions: Yes

  • If these do not have ISBNs, they CANNOT be posted as if they do.
  • BCEs are usually smaller, more cheaply printed versions, and often do not have price markings or ISBNs on them.

Just make sure they have ISBNs somewhere on them and the book type matches for the ISBN - so if your books are hardback, the ISBN pulls up a listing for a hardback book.

If the books don't have an ISBN, they can be posted without ISBNs.

Book Club editions are postiable. If some one does not want book club additions they need to have a RC saying so.

From the help desk:

Book Club Editions: Yes

  • If these do not have ISBNs, they CANNOT be posted as if they do.
  • BCEs are usually smaller, more cheaply printed versions, and often do not have price markings or ISBNs on them.

Yes, you are perfectly fine posting Book Club Editions. The ISBN is often inside on the copyright page, if it is not printed on the back cover. If you can't find the ISBN on the outside or inside on the copyright page, then you just post the book following the instructions for "Post a Book Without a ISBN".

Just make sure the binding matches.  Some BCE's are hardcover but use the paperback ISBN. If that's the case just post them without an ISBN.

Actualy, there are some BCE's that are the only version that is in hardcover, so there can be a bit of a demand for them.  ;)

I love book club editions when they do their omnibus of 3 or 4 or 5 books! My Anita Blake and Harry Dresden series is like that, I have the first 10 or 11 books in 3 omnibus! Saves space! :)

Sometimes you have to look in inside the book by the credits for the ISBN, or you can go back to the book site that offered the books and get it from there. Looking for book club edition ISBNs is a little difficult via Amazon IMO.

Book Club editions are very welcome on the site, but no book can be posted via an ISBN that is doesn't bear, those without are required to be posted via the book without an ISBN process and are assigned a PBS generated number.

Thanks everyone, I don't know where I got that in my head they weren't allowed!  But, I called her back too late, she already found a new home for them.

Now you know Kelli, better luck next time!  What Melanie said tho, if the ISBN is not printed inside the book or on the cover you cannot post them to an ISBN you find online (or elsewhere).
