A book I ordered (WLed) was declared mailed on 11/23/13.  It was declared lost on 12/19/13.  A second book (from another sender) was shipped and is on it's way to me.  The original book (the one shipped on 11/23/13 was actually shipped on 12/16/13.  I did not receive any notification from the sender that the book hadn't been shipped until 3 days before being declared lost.  If I read the PBS instructions correctly I am not required to show that the book was received.  Am I understanding this correctly?  Thanks.  Pat

Hi Pat,

You are correct, you do not need to give credit for the late book.

The reason that you do not have to mark it received is because you already have a 2nd copy coming to you.

Otherwise, late books DO have to be marked received, regardless of the bad sender behavior.

We do have an additional Received With A Problem, late mailing option.  That said, if the book was automatically reordered by the system, then you do not have to mark the first copy received.  You must record the second copy as received.  This way, the late mailer is out the credit, not the second innocent sender.

It works differently if you manually ordered two copies.

Oh, dear.  I hate when that happens.  If only the sender would actually PM the requestor and let them know the book will be mailed late.  I had one mailed two weeks after the date they said it was mailed.  Luckily I caught the book when it rolled over and cancelled it.  And no they did not PM me it was mailed late.    Wow!  Yours was mailed over 3 weeks late.
