I am looking up Daphne Du Maurier books.  Looking at both bookdepository.co.uk and bookdepository.com.  The books I was looking for are on sale at the dotcom site and not at the other.  Is the dotcom a genuine site?  Has anyone ordered from the dotcom site?  I know others have ordered from the uk site; I was wondering what the difference was and why there were different prices on the same books.   ??

I had a whole post written but I hit a key and lost it.  To net it out I think it's the same site (check both sites 'About Us' page).  Most people use .com and not .co.uk .  As for the prices being different why not use the contact us feature and ask them.  I'm curious what the answer is.  The White Queen is only $12.78 and no shipping.  Wow!

OK. I took my own advice and sent an email.  They have Prairie Tale for $12.99.  My cut off was $14.00 including shipping.  I've been bidding on ebay for days.  If I get a decent anwer I'm ordering both Prairie Tale and The White Queen.

Weird, now I'm looking up Plaidy books and on the dotcom site many are labeled as "out of stock" whereas on the uk site they are available.  ??

Oh lord I just spent $120.  Someone beat me with a wet noodle now!!!

A lot of Plaidy's were unavailable on this site but the ones that were available were cheaper than on the uk site.  I have almost all of Plaidy's books although I have only read a handful; I have decided to "upgrade" the the softcover reissues rather than the paperbacks I have.  I pre ordered 3 of those which were only $6.74 each and though that was a great bargain!  Got a few other Plaidys and lots and lots of other goodies.  But where oh where am I going to put all these books???

Just to confirm, bookdepository.com is owned by:

The Book Depository Ltd
   Goodridge Business Park
   Gloucester,  GL2 5EB
   United Kingdom

I used domaintools to find this out. There are so many fraudulent Web sites out there that copy the look and feel of real sites. You should never trust what you read on an "about us" page.

In any event, Michelle, it looks like money well spent. Enjoy the books!

I just love it when I see that one of you has spent a small fortune on books...it makes me feel a bit better about my own book issue's. :-D

Now, I have to go search out "Prarie Tales" because I haven't heard of it before now and I just hope it isn't a book that I simply must have!

Michele, did you order your  'library' from the dotcom site?

I ordered from the dotcom site (and am lol'ing at the "library" comment!)  Valli, I always love it when you guys post how much you spent on a purchase; makes me feel less guilty when others are as crazy as I am.  :)

I recently ordered  "Rebecca"  from the dotcom site.   It arrived in a little over a week from them.  I've ordered from them a few times in the past as well and have never had a problem.

Hey I just ordered Rebecca, too!  I've never read it if you can believe that.

LOL, Michelle! I solemnly promise that I will always post the insane amounts of money that I spend on books, just to make you feel better. But, you have to return the favor and tell me your dirty book buying secrets, too. :-D

I'm jealous that you get to read "Rebecca" for the 1st time. That's one of the books where I can actually "hear" the voice of the character in my head. Love that book!

The books I was looking for are on sale at the dotcom site and not at the other.

Book prices can also change on the same site.  I asked them once about this and was told that sometimes they get the same book from different suppliers (who charge different prices) which then affects how much they sell the books for.  That's probably the reason for the different prices on the two sites as well.

And MIchelle, I'm so glad you spent so much money - it definately makes me feel better about my recent purchases!!

Vali, Prairie Tale is not historical.  It's a memoir written by Melissa Gilbert.

I spent $42 - not too bad. I got The White Queen in paperback.  It's being released in the UK on 8/18.  It will be ages before it's available in the US. I prefer trade size PB over HB.

Donna, I bought that, too.  :)  It was under $10, wasn't it?

I received this in my inbox a couple of days ago. Michelle, it looks like you stumbled on the .com site before it was ready to launch. (: But now that it has launched, you can take advantage of a 50% off sale.

It had already been launched because I've already gotten some of the books I ordered.  Half at more than 50% off.  :)

Three of the four books I ordered were 50% off.  The other one was 33% off.  I'm a happy camper.

For anyone that's ordered before....do they send each book individually as a rule?  I thought I'd get a box of books but every book was shipped individually.

Michelle, all my books came individually. I ordered the day after you did.  I thought they came really fast considering the distance. I will definitely order from them again.
