So I ordered a book specifically because it showed the cover I wanted (the book has changed covers).  When I got it, it had the old cover.  I've seen it posted with a pic of the old cover and specifically didn't request it.  Is this something I that i could've requested credits back or something????? I didn't think about it and just clicked received etc.  Thoughts????

Hi Jill,

The covers do not have to match what is shown in the PBS listing.  If you're looking for a specific cover, you might want to think about adding a requester condition specifying which cover you want when you order the book.

If the ISBN is correct, there is nothing you can really do about it. Different covers are issued under the same ISBN and there is no way for the sender to know you are looking for a different cover unless you create an RC specifically for this book stating that you want the specific cover, or else PM the sender after requesting the book. The help files state that a different cover is fine as long as the ISBN matches.

That makes sense.  i'll be sure to set a request next time if it's a specific cover I want.

What they said.  Per PBS guidelines only the title, author, ISBN, and binding are required to match the listing.  Sorry you were disappointed Jill.  In your situation many members use RC's ... that's what they are for!

As the others said, different covers are not problem swaps. I know how frustrating it can be to recieve a different cover, especially if you didn't know it existed. That just happened to me this week. I requested a book with one cover and got an older copy of the same book with a different cover. And I had no idea the book I had requested was a reprint and that I could end up with an older copy with a different cover (a cover I'm not too fond of, I might add).

It happens and, unless you put in an RC for a specific book, you're out of luck.

I just want to read the book and don't care about the cover. Other than that I want it to meet the guidlines.

Thanks all. The only reason I care is because I get for my classroom library and unfortunately students are turned off by dated covers.
