Abby Bardi is a gifted story-teller. Her book is quirky and entertaining, with offbeat characters living in an unusual blended household. While it is not a domestic situation abounding in harmony, there are moments of grace, and a path of growth. There are funny parts, as well. It is a special book and worth reading. One of those it is hard for me to let go of-except someone else should get to enjoy it.

A new look at what is family. Engaging and disturbing--a quick read that will stay with you for years. (I finished the book 3+ years ago and still remember some parts clearly!)

Quirky read about a girl raised in a fundamentalist sect. Circumstances take her from her family and put her in foster care, and she must adapt to a world that she's literally never known.

This book was great! It's not often you get to head inside a Waco-type situation. I liked how low-key and matter-of-fact the narrator's tone was. And I liked hearing how she slowly acclimated to the world most think of as normal, and how the family changed because of her.
