Hi, I'm a new PBS member and I recently ordered a book that was listed as a CD so I assumed it was an audio book.  However, it arrived and is a paperback.  When I looked throughout the book for the ISBN number, nothing comes close to the ones used in the listing.  I assume the sender posted the book using the title and/or author and didn't realize the type was showing up as a CD.

I sent the sender a PM, and am awaiting a response.  Is there a typical way this situation is handled?

Thanks much,
Laurie

Have you marked it as arrived yet? When you do, one of the options will be Arrived, But There's A Problem (or words to that effect). There will be a subsequent category (Wrong Book, or Wrong ISBN). You need to mark these appropriately, but you will not automatically get your credits back.

Typically, one needs to politely(!) PM the sender and make them aware of the problem, and ask for your credits (plural, as audio books take two credits) to be returned. You are under no obligation to return the book at your own cost, by the way. Whether you do so or not is up to you and should not be expected by the sender when they have entered a book incorrectly.

Best of luck!

Basically, they sent the wrong book.  If the ISBN, title, author, and format don't match, it's the wrong book.  As for how to handle, just be polite and say basically something like this:

Hello, I received Title today from you.  Unfortunetly, I ordered the Audio CD version, ISBN 1234567890 and the I received is the paperback, ISBN 0987654321.  I would appreciate it if you would refund my two credits.  Thank you.

That's pretty much what I do.  (I order a lot of Large Print and unfortunetly need to do this fairly often.)
