Have you seen the new Profile and Book List features?  I started a Book List for us called "Essential Historical Fiction" .  Thought it would be a fun way to start gathering what we think are really the "must reads" for any HF fan.  A handy reference when new people wander in here asking for recommendations.  The list function has a lot of features...you can vote on lists that you like, or vote on individual books within a list.  The votes set the order of the books in the list, so as we each add books to the list and vote on the books that we like, the books we like most as a community would rise to the top.  Check it out, add books to the list, create your own personal list....lots of fun things to do!

The five books that I put on the list are ones that just popped in my head.  Actually, I haven't read any of those five!  So feel free to add, vote, etc.!

I like lists, we do those at Goodreads a lot and it's fun as anyone can add to them.

Alice, just set your cursor (don't have to click) on "My account" and a list of things come up to the right of it. you will see one "My Lists" Put you cursor (don't have to click) and different lists come up (like Book Lists) - choose one and click it. Also, when you go to "my  acct" you will see "Profile". click on that to get to the new profile page.

To see the new Profile, click on your own name on a forum post, or go to your My Account tab and click on the big Profile button off to the right.

For the lists, go to the Community drop down, then Book Lists, then Club Lists.  The Essential HF list is currently showing up under Newest Lists.  Once you get to is, you can click on the eyeball (which is a little creepin IMHO!) to make it a "watched list" which you can then access from the Book Lists drop down.

Your version is much clearer, Christa!!!

BTW, did you notice in the headings that we don't have "buddies" anymore - we have "friends"!wink

Oh, I love this! I've already made a list of the explorer books I've read. Now, I'm off to work on my shipwreck books.

Next up, I'll do disaster books! I'll have all my favorite things in one place, love it!!

This is fun!!

I've made:

Women Out of Bounds: Rip Off That Corset and Burn That Bra - still working on it though

Hold On to Your Hat: Disaster, Destruction, and, uh, Molasses?

Sailing the High Seas: Shipwreck, Mutiny, Cannibalism...Oh, My!

So You Want to Go Exploring...Armchair Exploring!

I am digging this! :-)

okay I have figured out how to make lists.

How do edit  the my favorite books, currently reading rows that are now in our profiles? I see you can delete what is there but how to you add new ones?

Alice

Alice, when you click on Edit, wipe out the title text that is in one of the boxes, and start typing in the title you want.  It will give you a drop down box of titles to choose from.

I added The Greatest Knight so we had some Chadwick on the list.  But there's no Plaidy!  Somebody who is familiar with her work go add a couple of books that an HF newcomer might want to start with.

Do you know if there is a limit to the amount of books that can be added to one list?

I want to do one that has all of the books we have all read for the challenge on it. One each for the ABC, category, and mystery, but the ABC one would be huge! :-O

Valli, if you really want to create a lot of work, you could make a list for each LETTER in the ABC challenge.  Then next year if I'm insane enough to try the letter challenge, I could go right to the list for a certain letter and see what other people used.  That would be soooo helpful!

When you are done with that and still need something to keep you busy, I have some ironing and some dusting that needs to be done...could you do that too?? wink

LOL! Why, thanks, Christa, but I don't do my own ironing and dusting; I pay high school girls who are desperate for makeup money. They'll do anything to earn MAC money. ;-)

I wish I was ambitious enough to make all those lists, but I'm too lazy to do my own ironing. Very sad.

Thank you everyone for your lists. I'm not sure why I am reading the lists since my wish list is at the maximum 200, I have a huge TBR pile and a big Reminder list. But I am comforted that there are lists where I can go to find some great books if I my TBR pile ever gets low.
