I am confused by a WL book that I sent out on 2/22/08.  I sent it to a town 26 miles away, so it should not have taken it that long to get there.  However, I am aware that the USPS does not take Media Mail too seriously and books can sit for days or even weeks before they are delivered.  Well, according to the date that PBS gave me, it should not have been listed as lost until 3/21.  Today I log on to find that it is no longer in my active "Books I've Mailed" tab, so I go to the Transaction Archive to see what the deal was.  Beside the book is a big ? which doesn't give me much info.  So, I click on the details and it gave all of the usual information, date requested, date accepted, wrapper printed, etc.  Well, at the bottom it says "Date Canceled: 3/19/2008 3:05 AM ET.”  Does this mean that the book is lost in the mail?  If so, why did it go through two days early?  Should I PM the requestor now, or wait until the date that PBS gave me originally?  TIA for your help!

Books go lost after 26 days. I think that would be 3/19. 2/22-2/29=7days in Feb, so 19 days in March.

So, that means that its officially lost in the PBS system?  I guess I'll PM the requestor to see if maybe she recieved it and just forgot to mark it received.  The thing that makes me nervous about it (which I forgot to mention in my original post) is that it was sent to a P.O. Box.  So, it might have been sitting there for weeks and she just hasn't checked her box yet.  I guess I'll just see what she has to say, then start the paperwork with USPS to try to recover it.

It does sound like the system marked it "lost in the mail". You should also have received an email from PBS. Check your "Club Communications" page if you didn't get it in your inbox for some reason. If PBS sent you an email, a copy of it will be on that page.
