I requested a book on June 3 and received an e-mail saying it had been mailed on 12 June. On the 18th I received an e-mail saying they didn't have the book and would ship it when they found it.  On advice from Live Help, i e-mailed and asked "Would you please cancel the order by contacting the site so that the request can be passed on?"  Today I received an e-mail saying "i cleaned yesterday and it wasn't anywhere i know it been taking me a while to respond but the thing is i am having some medical problems so please bear with me."  Again I asked the "Would you please ..." question.

As I wrote in the original e-mail to the person, I can certainly understand having a book go missing.  But I really would like to have the book fairly quickly [for media mail] now so I would like the request passed on to someone who can fill it.  Is there a way to notify PBS so that can be done or do I just have to wait until the "Please DO NOT contact us before this date!" date?

Are you sure it didn't roll over to another member? If she didn't respond to the request it might have rolled over. I'd check that the one on the way to you is from the same person that sent you the PM. It's a longshot, perhaps, but she (the sender) might not be aware that the request was cancelled and passed on already.

If it is the same member, then I would contact PBS using the feedback link- http://www.paperbackswap.com/contact_us/index.php I'd also copy and paste the contents of the PMs. She admitted to not mailing the book. It never should have been marked mailed if she didn't even know where it was.

ETA: sorry about the link. There was an extra period.

In this situation, I would go ahead and contact PBS (Help Center/Contact PBS) - since it's been a week now and they clearly haven't mailed the book, PBS can step in on this one :)

Thanks for the reply.  Yes, the "can't find" e-mails are definately from the original person who marked them as "request accepted" and "mailed".

BTW:  The link didn't work but thanks anyway, I used the feedback to report it.
