Sorry if this has been asked before but the member didn't mail the swap book out until a few days after the date scheduled to mail.  I did receive a PM that the book was mailed yesterday but PBS cancelled the swap.  How do I give her a credit when I receive the book?

Hi Sharon, You'll find a Give Credit button on the member's profile or their bookshelf. You can give credit from there.  Have you checked to make sure your request hasn't moved on to another member?

Thanks for your quick response.  Yes it's waiting for another member to respond so I take it that I should cancel the order?

If they mailed it already then you should cancel the on-coming order.

Yes, I'd go ahead and cancel since you know another copy is on the way. I edited my first answer, so read it again. It's too early and I made a mistake! LOL!

Actually, if PBS already canceled the swap for you then you shouldn't have to use the Give Credit button.  There's a way to officially send the credit.  If PBS canceled the swap then it's in your Transaction Archive as a lost book(?).  Once you receive the book go there and find the book in the list.  There should be a grey "did you receive this book?" button which, when clicked, will give you the option of saying that you did in fact get the book.  This will send a credit to the Sender.

If you are unable to cancel, then you'll receive a 2nd copy from sender #2.  When you log in to mark it received you will actually be giving a credit to #2.  If you do receive a book from #1 its totally up to you whether or not you give that person a credit since they didn't mark it mailed by the deadline.

If you can cancel #2 then by all means give #1 a credit, but if you get stuck getting two copies then I don't think you should feel like you have to give #1 a credit since you would be out two credits when you only wanted one copy of the book.

There's a good section in Help on this that you could also read.  Good luck!  Sara

Actually, don't use the credit button on their profile or bookshelf. Go into your transaction archive and use the Received button there (I cannot remember if it on the main TA page or if you need to go into the Details). That way your credit follows the transaction and you get all the normal info to fill in so that you can note the mail date and record any problems as RWP.

Melanie, that is what I orginally wrote, but I'm not seeing a give credit button on any of my canceled or timed out requests. Do any of you see it on yours?

It won't show up as a lost book because it was never marked as mailed.
