I have gotten an email that a book from my wish list has been accepted into the system.  Does the mean the member who posted the book  has agreed to mail the book?

Sort of: it means someone posted the book and it offered the book to you. Either you were 1st in line or someone before you had RCS or was on vacation.  You have to click that you want this book if you didn't have it on autorequest.  It'll then send the book request to the sender who has to say "Yes I can Mail the Book" or "No I cannot mail the book".  Most likely they will click yes but sometimes books get damaged or people run out of postage money or they decide they don't like doing PBS afterall.   If they dont' accept then the book will go back on your WL.

It doesn't mean that the member has agreed to mail the book YET. It means that they received the request but they have yet to accept it. The sender then has 5 days to respond to your request. They can either accept to send it or deny the request.

You can monitor the progress of your book request from your account page.

To do this:

  • Log into PBS
  • Click My Account in the main toolbar at the top of the site.
  • Click the "Books I've Requested" tab under the Message from the Librarian.
  • The status of each request you have submitted appears In the "speech bubble" on the right:
    • "Requested on:"
      • is the date and time that you submitted the request
    • "Waiting for Member"
      • means the sender has not yet agreed to send the book (he or she has 5 days to respond).
    • "Accepted" (with NO "will mail-by" date specified)
      • means that the sender has agreed to send the book by clicking "I can mail in the next 2 days", and has 5 days from the date of acceptance in which to mark the book mailed.  (The deadline is at the end of the fifth day.)
    • "Accepted" ("will mail-by" date specified)
      • means that the sender has agreed to send the book by clicking "I can mail later", and has until 2 days after the mail-by date shown to mark the book mailed.  (The deadline is at the end of the second day.)
  • If you click on the request, you may see:
    • "Printed:" (with a date)
      • means that the sender has printed your address to send the book (the request can no longer be canceled by you at this point).
      • The date shown here is the LAST time the address was printed.  This will update if the sender reprints the address.
      • "Awaiting Member" after "Printed" means that the address has not yet been printed.  The request can still be canceled by you at this point.
When the sender marks the book mailed, the request will move to your En Route to Me tab in My Account, and you will be sent an email from PBS telling you the book is on its way.

This is the message I received.

This is just a friendly email to confirm that your request for the book 'Us Army Survival Manual' by Department Of Army has been accepted into our system at PaperBackSwap. In the next couple of days you should receive an email stating that the book is on its way!
