I can't seem to find anything about this in the help docs, but maybe I'm not searching for the right keywords.

I requested a book and it was accepted. It's now the fifth day after it was excepted and I'm just wondering what happens is the sender never mails the book? Does the request start all over with the next person who has the book? They printed the wrapper 2 days ago so I don't really understand why they're not mailing it. It has been a pain getting this book too. The first request was never accepted so it went to the second person. That one was about to time out as well, but they accepted it on the fifth day. Now they are taking forever to mail it! Very frustrating.

they actually have 2 days after the mail by date to mark it mailed.  they may be someone that can only ship once a week or has limited computer access.

If they don't mark it mailed by that 2 days after then your order will pass to the next person in the FIFO line (if there are other copies)

there is no rule that says you have to mail it immediately, that is usually just our desire because we want the book now and not later!

It's been 5 days since they accepted my request. I read in the help docs there is a 2 day grace period for the "I can mail within 2 days" option so they have 5 days to mail it including the rest of the day they accepted it. So if they never mark it mailed what happens? Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear with my question.

If they never mark it mailed, the request will be passed to the next person who has the book you are requesting.

Thanks Shelley! I kinda of figured that, but I wanted to make sure. I couldn't find anything in the help docs, but like I said I may have not searched the right terms. I

Be on the look out for the book, though, because he/she might have sent it, but not marked it mailed.

Then you'll end up (possibly) with two of the same book.

If that happens, you'll have to find the request in your transaction archive in order to mark the book received. At that point, it is up to you whether or not you want to give that person a credit for sending the book (even though it was not marked mailed).

Usually I'll PM the person when it's getting close to timing out.  Just to try and prevent the two book thing from happening.

If you end up with 2 copies you do not have to mark the 1st one as received and be out 2 credits.  If it was a book I thought might be requested quickly I would mark both received and just repost one right away.  If it was a common book then I would probably let this person learn a lesson about marking books mailed.

If they PM you saying they mailed it but forgot to mark it mailed, you should at least try to cancel the 2nd request.  You can cancel the 2nd request as long as they haven't printed your address out.

It is possible you may be waiting for a few more days. If they chose the I can mail later date, they would get 5 days to mail plus another 2 to mark it as such. Does it have a "Will Mail By" date on it?  I believe the receiver sees the 5 day date so they will have 2 days after that date to mark it mailed. The system does all that processing at night so it would be at the end of that day that the order passes on. Hopefully you don't get 3 copies on the way!
