Sara Donati has a new book coming out this year ... The Gilded Hour ... about two women physicians in NYC in 1883.

Thanks for the heads up.  I put it on my wish list at Amazon.  I wasn't keen on the one and only "Wilderness" series books I read, but this sounds more interesting.

ETA: Sorry for the formatting issues. What a mess. Also, I've read five of these books; have The Red Tent on my TBR shelves, and am interested in several of the other titles.
