I ordered three interesting books from a fellow member and she promptly replied that her books had been in a smoking environment since posting. I thanked her for letting me know and did cancel the order since I can't deal with the smell of smoke. However, now I am wondering how I can order these interesting books from another member? If I try to re-order them, won't it just revert to the previous person I ordered from? Thanks in advance... Can I also just use this opportunity to say that I am so appreciative of the many members I have swapped with! This is a wonderful site and the books I have ordered from all of the honest, thoughtful members have brought me hours of enjoyment. Thanks, Sonja |

If her books didn't meet your conditions, she was the one that was supposed to decline. Did she accept your request, and then ask you if it was okay to send them anyway? |

I canceled them after the PM. I didn't think about who should have canceled.... |

The person the books are requested from is supposed to cancel. Since the books were canceled due to an RC the sender couldn't meet, it won't remove them from their place in FIFO, but it will send your request along to the next person with the book. |

Like Erica says, if the sending member does not meet your RC's they mark the appropriate box and the FIFO system offers their books to the person behind you. Therefore, you also retain your position in line, and the next books in the system are offered to you. Last Edited on: 11/4/10 12:01 AM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

Thank you all for answering me so quickly. I will try for these books again. Thanks, Sonja |

If you ordered them from FIFO then they will go to her again. If you ordered them directly from her-then the request will go to whomever is first in line which may not be her. If you ordered 1 FIFO and the others with the Order More From Member button-then she might get hte order for hte original one again with the oher 2 going to FIFO. (assuming her copies of hte books haven't been ordered by someone else in the mean time-or she didn't have the only copies) |

If she PM'd you earlier, that means that she first ACCEPTED the RCs, saying that her book did meet your conditions, then PM'd you to ask about them, which isn't how RCs are supposed to work. Assuming that you ordered from FIFO originally, what I would do is to order the book, then PM her (making sure, by looking at the Order More From Member button, that the order has really gone to her) and let her know that in this situation she needs to mark the "does not meet requestor's conditions" so that you can get the book from someone else. |

I read this another way. I read it that Sonja didn't have RCs and the person just happened to PM her. I didn't sleep very well last night so I might just be confused! Sonja--do you have RCs in place? |

Oh, my - this was resolved days ago. I am the person she originally ordered from. She sent me a very nice PM about my shelf (not linked to an order) saying she'd ordered "several books." I responded to her PM although I had not yet responded to any of the orders that had come through while away from the computer, nor did I know if her order was one that had appeared or was still in the one hour pending time frame. I replied by telling her if her order included "book x," (the only order which had come through with RCs so far) that I had a smoking household. (As there was more than one multi-book order, I did not know which was hers, and I did not accept the order as meeting the RCs and then PM her, I responded to an unlinked PM.) She then cancelled and posted here. She then reordered, and I cancelled. All is well! :-) |

It is so great to hear when there is a problem/misunderstanding that two adults can work it out. Thanks Jodi for updating us on the outcome. |
