When I look at a book's rating (number of stars),  I see what I assume is the average rating of all those who have rated the book. However, once I rate a book, I see only my rating rather than the overall average. Not a problem really, but I was curious about how some of the ratings I gave stacked up against the general opinions only to find out that I can no longer see them.

I've tried searching for the books so that I'm not looking at them specifically from one of my lists, e.g. BIR, but it doesn't seem to make any difference where I view the book. Once I've rated it, that's all I'll ever see. Is that how the system works, or do I just have a glitch on my account?

No biggie, just curious.

There is a way now to see the average rating for books - not sure if it's new or if I've just noticed it!  After you've rated it, if you hover over the number of ratings next to the stars, it will say "26 members reviewed this book and give it an average rating of 4.3 stars" or something to that effect!  I wondered that too, but it's nice to be able to see it.
