i ordered a book a few weeks ago that was suppose to include a CD with the book. today i received the book and the sleeve in the back of the back of the book has no cd.  how am i suppose to mark this. i know PBS says not to expect bonus items with books requested from the site as these are used books but if the book cover says cd included does that make a difference?

IDK here..the description says hardcover but it doesnt say in the description CD included. This might be a PBS contact us question.

IMO, if a CD was originally included, I believe it should have been included. In my experience, bonus items were more like a necklace originally sold with a children's book. The CD was probably relevant to the book.

I'm not sure. When the listing says hardcover that might be it.

Some covers put national best selling author, soo to be a movie..but that isnt in the description.

I think this is a contact us pbs situation. Or , I just thought of this, pm her first and see if she has the CD. Wait for the answer because if sh edoes ask her to send it..if she doesnt then contact pbs.

This is the rule, and it's a RWAP.

Supplementary/Accompanying Materials:

• Books that originally came with supplementary Media materials may be posted -  the supplementary Media materials MUST be included.

  • supplementary Media materials include CD(s)/CD-ROMs/DVD(s)/VHS tape(s)
  • if the book originally included supplementary Media materials, the supplementary materials must accompany the book for the book to be postable.
  • The supplementary materials cannot be posted alone - both the book and the supplementary media must be included in the posting.  
  • These combination listings are valued at 1 credit.

• Books that require non-Media supplementary materials MAY NOT be posted

  • an example would be a book that requires a decoder to be read.
  • these items cannot be sent MediaMail
  • These items cannot be posted here - because a used book cannot be expected to have original accompanying NON-media items, and if the book is not usable without the non-media items, the book must not be posted.

• Books that originally had accompanying non-Media materials that are not required to read the book (ie, jewelry) MAY be posted.
  • The extra material does not have to be included, and if it is included, the book must not be sent using Media mail rate.
  • Since this is a used-book swap, members should not expect to receive non-Media items with their books.
• Books that require batteries to work do NOT have to include the batteries, but the books MUST be in working condition.

• The member who sends a book that requires batteries must test the book before posting it, and again before sending it.  The batteries do not have to be included when it is shipped (although they can be), but the item must have been tested and working before the item is sent.

If the thing that accompanies the book is also MEDIA then it must be included. (CDs, a printed map, etc).

If the thing that accompanies the book is NOT MEDIA, then it does not have to be included.

What Sara posted is correct, it's RWAP.  That being said, I would still contact the sender and see if she has it and, if so, is willing to send it.  You can go ahead and mark it RWAP before it times out and then mark it resolved if/when she sends the CD if she has it.

Secondly, to answer this question:    ". . .so doesn't the cover image count as the listing info?"  I would have to say no, the cover image does not count as the listing info.  Since the rules say that a cover image is not one of the points that have to match when posting a book (title, author, ISBN, and book type are the only matching requirements), then it would not be reasonable to say that the cover image is part of the listing info.  JMHO.

Apples : Oranges, but on the SaDVD site an included item is only required if it is actually in the title of the item "Title of DVD with 3D glasses/Collector figurine/etc".

so since this book is RWAP. is there anyway that i can repost it without the cd that is suppose to come with it?

I think you can then be RWAPed for it though..

Yes, you need to RWAP it and you can't repost it without the CD. If is was a WL book, you could list it under Unpostable WL books in the Book Bazaar

You can offer it in the Book Bazaar whether or not it is wishlisted, but you cannot pot it.

This is one of those rules I think a lot of members aren't aware of, even long-time members.
