This morning I received a request for a book, and I couldn't find it on my bookshelf so I cancelled the request with apologies for apparently losing the book. The requestor PM'ed me to say that she in fact just received the book from me this morning, and had entered it into PBS as received. I checked my transaction archive and it only shows this morning's transactions: book requested, request cancelled by me. I'm pretty sure no credit was exchanged but I don't keep very close track of my credits so I'm not sure.

The requester has offered to send me a credit if I can't get it sorted out, but I don't know where to begin. Is anyone else having this problem where a requester receives your book, marks it as received, and instead of getting a credit the system resends the request? This is pretty confusing. I have never bothered to track my books independently because I always assumed the system is working properly. Does this happen often? How can I get it corrected?

I'd PM the requestor and ask her to make sure the copy she received was from you.  What might have happened is that she ordered the book from someone else who forgot to mark it "mailed" and so the initial request timeed out and then rolled over to you.

Sorry, I forgot to mention, the book is definitely from me. She had the wrapping with my return address on it, and it was wrapped in my stlye (book in plastic bag then wrapped with heavy light blue kraft paper, kind of distinctive).

Okay, this one is a bit of a mystery. I am forwarding it to the feedback team. If anyone else has this problem, please contact them also.

Well if she just received it from you today then obviously you had a request for the book recently and mailed it to her.  Maybe it went lost?  Check your transaction archive fuirther back and your credit registry. The 2nd order could have just been a fluke.  People occassionally have issues with a WL book being posted once but offered to 2 different people. It happened to me one time. Or randomly getting a request for a book they never posted.  I once got a WL offer for a Danielle Steele book and I don't read her books wouldn't even look at her books on paperback swap.  But somehow I got a WL offer for a large print DS book.  I don't wish or get large print books either unless it's an out of print book and I'll take whatever I can get.

Could you have mailed her a different book and maybe she also requested this book from someone else who mailed it and didn't mark it mailed.  Then she happends to get both books, doesn't pay attention to the wrappers until she goes to mark them received. Then sees your PM about thsi book, knows she just received, checks the wrappers and assumes it came out of yours? When really you sent her a different book?

You don't remember mailing this book to her so recently?

You can look at your recent activity in your Transaction Archive or your Credit Registry to see if there was another request (which there had to have been if you actually mailed the book to her). Search you Transaction Archive for the book by title, I've looked for transactions and not seen them, then they've popped up in searches.

The receiver will want to check her account for new requests and stop them from going forward until she sorts it out or she will be getting a second book and you won't be getting a credit.
